I have always been into knives... but as all hobbies things come and go and you get fired up about collecting bourbon... or guns... or whatever else you get into and something has to give. So for the last 4 or 5 years I got rid of everything except my 940 and a Hap40 Endura. I've owned everything from Hinderers to Sebenzas some old school Socom Elites I had all the gold class 940's a man could dream about. Since when did prices on some of these runs from 10+ years ago absolutely explode? Since when is a Slysz Bowie worth $800 and who is paying that?? I am dipping my toes back in the water (bought a 9400 from a local dealer) and am absolutely flabbergasted that if I had held onto all these knives I would have a fortune. At the time I sold them I was always jacked if I only lost a hundred bucks or so in the transaction.

The Slysz Bowies started going up when it was discontinued. Not sure why it's only gotten higher but maybe people just really like the knife.

I went to knives when it because such a PITA to buy guns/ammo and when I started to run out of room in my safe to store any more guns.

I have now spent more $ on knives than guns/ammo and my knife collection is "worth" at least twice what my gun collection is worth now.

LOL! ;)

Are penguins real? 🐧
Indeed.

Appreciate that, dont even want to explain again.

Short answer? People are pricks and want to take every opportunity to profit off others. Social media and "hype" certainly doesn't help.

Then theres me. Do I be nice and sell you that Nyala for 250? Or put on my devil's horns and sell for 500. I'd feel like a moron if I sold it for 275, only for the person to immediately flip it for 500. In a sense, I understand why certain dealers adjust prices for GECs, I really do.

Rant over lol.

The GEC's are blowing my noodle. What is happening?? I remember the Northwoods going nuts early and I guess I should have guessed all the GEC lines would follow suit.

Demand greatly outstrips supply, interest in traditional knives has branched into new sectors of the larger knife community, and GEC does not -- from my outsider's POV -- want to, or perhaps is not able to, ramp up production to meet demand.

What makes GEC so desirable means they can't make many.

There are lots of places where you can still find them and order today but if you're that guy who missed out on a glitter gold Barlow then you won't find one.
