What Happens Now?

I'm in, Steve. Just give the word when it's time to lose another raffle. I mean, of course, time for another TRULY deserving sole (or shark) to walk off with a beautiful knife that SHOULD RIGHTLY BE... Did you ever have one of those days when the words just won't flow?

Anyway, I know how important this was to Bill. I'll help.

I told Bill some months ago that I would continue to help out with Ram's education. It scares me a little, because he still has 3 years to go. I feel sure that you guys will help when asked, and I'll have to ask, as I can't do it alone. You've all contributed greatly to the two raffles we've had and I truly appreciate it. Ram writes me monthly to let me know how he is doing. He seems like a good young man.

Steve

I think Bill would be thrilled to know we continued to help Ram after he was gone. Hell, we could formally name it the "James William Martino Scholarship Fund" in his name, and keep it going every year! And there is no need for you to keep contributing your own knives Steve, a certain portion of the raffle funds could go to purchase the knife from HI and send it to the winner.

In any case Steve, as long as you have the raffle for Ram you can count on my support!

Regards,

Norm

It has been a long time since I have bought a khurk blem, deal or otherwise. I think that at the very least I will have to dive back into the shark tank or just outright order that Tin Churra that I have wanted. Those that can do this should I think, it might not be much but it would be something.

Very cool stuff that I'm reading here. Uncertainty is giving way to good vibes.

Naming the fund after Uncle Bill? I'll drink to that. (When the beer gets cold, that is.)

You guys rock:D
Raffle or not i'll do my part to help Ram keep his schooling up. Like Mark said, I think once things calm a bit I'm just going to splurge on the khuk of my choice. Can I afford it right now? not really..but it doesn't take much for me to enable myself. A very wise man once told me, "Debt is good." A phrase i live by;) I'm sure this gang will pull together and do whatever it takes to keep the spirit of the cantina alive and well.

Once Yangdu's up and going again, I think it would be good to buy something from them. Whatever it was you wanted but never got. Now's the time, I say. Help clear up inventory and keep business going. My $.02

Way to be an enabler there, buddy. Evil, Nam...evil. :)

 Lots of good karma here today!(wiping eyes) I like think that "Uncle" Bill is where ever he is tipping up a Hienie to all of you!
I'd like to do my part as well in keeping things going.

Somebody let us know if money is needed immediately for Yangdu.
We lost a daughter a while back, it was an expensive process & I don't have any idea how well Yangdu's set up to handle it financially.

just a thought...but if anyone will have a booth at the blade show in Atlanta that might be a good place for the donation fund, maybe raffle a Khuk etc... and its a couple of months away time to plan and announce it...and maybe by then have a more clear plan on how the whole thing is set up... again just a thought

There are two Birgorkha needs that often drew money, and I think Bill would appreciate support for. One was Ram's college fund. The other was "Birgorkha medical insurance". In reality it's all the same pot of money - Ram, medical expenses, shop expenses, random occurances. I'm sure there will be many needs that arise in the future, and many more chances to do good deeds in Bill's memory. We can toss around ideas now, and when things settle a bit come up with centralized coordination. Just a thought - we might consider coordinating this separately from HI, just to reduce Yangdu's workload. We'll work out something optimal as circumstances become clear.

Sat, I hope (and think) you mean this in jest. I swear to you that I didn't mean this jokingly, sarcastically or otherwise. I couldn't concieve of saying anything like that now. Please don't mistake me. I truly meant this with the aim of helping HI and Yangdu. You see, I thought about how, instead of giving the Nepalese money, he gave them industry. I seriously mean that this might be a good way of helping out. No sarcasm.

I could not and did not mean anything like that at a time like this. My best wishes to Yangdu and everybody who knew him. And, BTW, the spirit I'm feeling here is incredible. Bill would be happy, methinks. :)

Not claiming to speak for anyone, but I think it was completely in jest.

Seems to me a little 'enabling' in this instance is a good thing.

I think we'd all love to dance in a massive shark infested feeding frenzy ... knowing that the event was an important one with proceeds going to great people and places.

My $.01 (saving the other one for feeding time) :D
