and the police catches you.
you go to court and get to pay 980 USD in fines.

might sound dramatic but thats what happened to me.
was carrying it as edc and a securitas guard noticed the clip.

knife laws in sweden is kind of silly.

You also parted with the knife, I take it.

What are the knife laws in Sweden? I could probably look them up, but if you already know...

all knives are illegal pretty much.
some says you can carry a small non locking knife but if you get caught carrying one you will most likely end up in court.

You are not allowed to carry a knife in public in school or ready to hand in a car.

You can carry in the forest a knife appropriate for the forest.

Sorry for the loss, but in Europe some countries are not knife friendly.

I talked to a man from Sweden last year and he said you could have one for work but don't get caught just carrying it around.

Same thing here in Germany. If you got a socially adequate reason (you are a Fire fighter or a Paramedic for instance), than it's a Tool.

Otherwise - it's a weapon. :eek::confused:

Ouch, that's why I always research the destination's gun and knife laws I'm traveling to, sorry for your loss.

That really sucks.

Canada has some strict weapon laws, but thankfully we can carry pretty much non-automatic knife or any able to be flipped open with one hand.

Even then our cops and border folks rarely have a clue about the actual laws.

Too bad man, very sorry to hear it. I wonder if the knife actually got destroyed, or if someone has a really expensive souvenir.

I take all of the clips off any folder I carry. I don’t like he idea of a shiny clip advertising that I have s knife. I use a saddleback card wallet as a slip sheath and it works great.

Nice franken millie! Ide cry if that was confiscated.

To the OP. Sorry that you experienced that.

Do you plan on finding another?

Sweden... feminism made into a country....

Are all fines that high?
1000$ is i think even less than what you end up paying when you get caught drunk driving here.

One is a danger to cardboard boxes, one is a direct danger to people's lives..

fines in sweden is high. and do consider that its my first ”crime”. so i got away easy. you can get jail up to 6 months for carrying a knife here.

and all knives are considered as weapons here, not tools. even craftsmen have been caught when carrying a mora.
