What has your Emerson gone through...?

Yeah, I kinda figured that.I put her back together last night after final sanding, lapping compound, polishing compound then fitz.I got to say she looks better than ever, but not to the level where I am pleased whole heartedly.
So she rides with me and my Wife and Daughter to a model train show.(my 3yo.is a geotrax fanatic) Then she goes back to the plastic surgeon.
By the way Haze I saw your moded Emerson's very nice. How did you carve the scales I want to do the same to my Commander but gave the only G10 scaled knife I would be willing to experiment on to a friend. I contemplated using a carving bit in my dremel tool, but could'nt find any sort of reference on the net and dont want to risk destroying the scales.

For the random patern on the ones i posted pics of i used a round file and did it by hand, the same file i use for sharpening my chainsaw. Its about 4 mm or so. I also used some bought G-10 rather than use the original scales. G-10 is pretty cheep and easy to get hold of.

If you need any more help drop me an e-mail and i can give you a more indepth answer with more pics if you want.

I just finished my Commander this morning. I decided not to mess with the scales though, I will take you up on your offer later as I really like the way you did yours, but I want to wait until I aquire some G 10 to work with.

My girlfriend gave me my first EKI, a CQC-10, upon graduation from college. It just so happened we were spending that weekend at her brother's, helping him finish his "mantown" basement. I immediately put the knife to work on the drywall as needed, and smiled despite the odd queries as to why I would subject it to such torment. I needed only to reply, "This is a work-knife". To this day I maintain it as the very sharpest of all my knives, and the coating has held up to such a standard that one would not ever think it had helped shape those basement walls.

Ha ha ha now this is funny.

I do have a Emerson CQC7a broke the tip when I accidentally used it as a pry bar.

I know I know it's not designed for that, but when you're in the middle of nowhere every tool usable is fair game.

I treat mine like they're my Ex-wife. I give 'em crap every chance I get.
