What have I got here? 5OT, or something else?

Dave.....Your knife may not be a 1 of 1, I just saw identical knife I think 5OT/LB5 with stag scales listed on the Bay # 290210317440 with certificate so yours was definately not made after the event/sale. Hoo Roo

thawk,

I think maybe he was referring to the yellow handles on your nice SC507.

Larry303,

That eBay knife doesn't have a long clip blade marked 5OT in it, like Dave's mystery knife.:D

The other is "bolsters and caps". I think of a cap as a pommel cap on a fixed blade. What is a cap on a slip joint? The original 5OT had no bolster on the butt end.

Thawk, the end of a jack where the blade pivots has a bolster, the opposite end has the caps, or "end caps". He might have been confused with the LB5's caps in his description:confused:

I've seen that one and am watching it too. I can't read the tang stamp on it, but it's a very nice knife. But I think with the stag handles, it will go a bit higher than I want to spend.

I do not view the 5OT as a parts knife. The stamp and the handles are unique. The fact it has the "capped" end means it was even more on purpose. I've never seen any other knives the collective parts would have come from.

I note the knife I quoted above.. the seller has referred to 5OT/LB5.Why would anyone refer to 5OT quoting that knife unless it has the tang stamp as it is most unlike a 5OT and in most respects is a LB5 frame. Both hybrids? Schrade more questions than answers.

I betcha that someone was bored one day at the old schrade factory, and put this knife together. I have heard , at the end of days, A lot unique knives were assembled. Did you asked silverladdie about any history?

Agree. The same seller also has an actual 5OT with stag handles for sale to under auction #300202801612. Nice looking knife, but not as nice as the other, IMHO. It's also going for more than the one on the LB5 frame at this time.

No, but not a bad idea. I'll run it past him and let you know what, if anything, I find out.

Well, I sent off a question to the seller to see if he had any history on the item. Unfortunately, he said he had no history on it as he bought in a large group of Schrade knives and could provide no further information.
