Have any of your friends and family that aren't into knives ever commented on your CRK unprompted?

Recently while playing with my 25, my cousin pointed out how much of a "precision feel" the knife had at the pivot.

Just last night, my buddy was over looking at my collection and he got fixated on the resounding knock of the 25's lock up. He played with it for the rest of the night as we talked and had a few beers.

What have others admired about your CRKs? :)

Never had anyone show any interest without being prompted. I wish I had friends that would at least take a closer look at things like the pivot or notice anything like that.

Nobody admires my knives ever.. Even when I show it to them they just don't understand. I show this one guy at the gym one of my new knives and he looks at them for a couple seconds and hands them back and say 'cool". But these types never carry anything more than a gas station knife on them even though I show them mine. So can't really expect them to admire anything I have.

Only time I ever run across knife guys is at shows like the Blade Show.

Everyone who sees my CRK's admires their beauty...knife people comment on their fit, finish and smoothness.

My friends aren't nearly as quality oriented or knife savvy as your average CRK owner. In fact I showed my Large CF Sebenza 25 to my buddy/boss today. He liked the carbon fiber, then asked how much it set me back. When I told him he responded "Really? Can you load it with ammo and shoot it?"

I actually bought him a set of 4 inexpensive HK (Benchmade) pocket folders for Christmas this year and he was very happy. It was $100 well spent.

my 21L sits in its sheath. I have yet to get any comments as it looks so normal/uninteresting, which is good IMHO as I do not want to draw unnecessary attention. So whenever I am out and about especially at a restaurant, I can safely take it out and park it on the table with the car keys, handphone etc with drawing any attention. I having it in the dark tan sheath do help. Its a totally different story when the blade is out though.

Nope, it's just a pocket knife to the uninitiated and I generally like it that way. However, I came home to find my wife using one with the Christmas wrapping. I casually switched it out for an old spyderco.

Had to cut down a guitar box at work for holding hardware, one of my co-workers marveled as the 25 went through it like butter and couldn't believe it. Done in a flash.

I can only remember one time when someone commented on my knife. A co-worker asked to look at my old Small Regular several years ago. I passed it over to him and he looked it over for a couple minutes before simply saying something along the lines of, "This is expensive, isn't it?" That was it.

Like jleephoto stated, to most it's just a knife and I'm cool with that. That's actually one of the reasons I love CRK folders. They don't scream, "Hey!! Look at me!!!"

unless they are a knife person then most don't get it... its just a knife... just like most don't appreciate a merkel double shotgun unless they are a gun person

My cousin was looking over my large Insingo while we worked together on a job and as he opened it his eyes got big when he heard the *clunk* of the lockbar. He knew immediately it was a precison piece and was quite impressed. He's a car nut and is always modding his Supras in some way so he gets the idea of good engineering and tight tolerances.

I gave up trying to share my passion for knives with others. They really don't get it and are shocked when you mention the price. I actually avoid talking about it now.

Their looks. I carry UG's, one has a damascus blade and a diamond inset. The other is a Lisa's Pick with a citrine, and they're both really pretty. I don't got out of my way to flash then around non-knife people, but I don't hide the fact that I use them. I get the occasional "That's pretty, what is it?", then I'll show them.

I have gotten a few comments about my CRKs from various people. All of them are when I am using my annuals and the comments are about the inlays:)

I don't think I have gotten any comments on my CRK's unless it was from someone who collected them or knew of them in the first place.
Most of the people I work with know that I have many of them and just think they are expensive knives.

I don't consider it admiration, but people always want to know what they cost.

Mostly they just indicate that I am a very foolish person for spending so much money on a pocket knife.

That is true for me. Showed off a damascus Mnandi to relative who live on a working farm, and they thought it was nice but could not understand collecting knives. So I gave up trying to share my passion.

My experiences (or lack thereof) are very similar. It seems the appreciation for CRK's only comes from others who own them already.

I buy CRK's for myself, not to make impressions on others because no one will "get it" the way other CRK owners do (or other high-end knife collectors do)

The only CRK I've ever gotten any response about is my small 21 Raindrop with Bocote; they comment on how it looks.

Yup, that sums it up I bought a used classic sent it in for a spa treatment and added double thumb studs so I got about $350.00 into the knife showed the guys in my office and a couple well most just could not believe I spent that much on a knife. The quote was "No knife is worth that much money" When I asked one guy how much he spent on beer a week he got real defensive and said " My beer gives me a lot more pleasure than your knife ever could" at that point I was done with the conversation.
