It's been a while since a thread like this has come up, so here we go:
Yesterday, I was assembling a small shelves/mailbox shelf thing, and I was having a little trouble inserting the plastic shelf support pegs into the slots because of the plastic molding on the edges (the little plastic strips that stick out for from where the 2 plastic bits were squished together) so, I got my ritter grip out. (very nice) and easily shaved that plastic crap off, and it made my life a lot easier. Of course I could have used sandpaper or something else, but a knife was the quickest solution, especially since the pegs were pretty small.
So, what have you guys cut lately?

I was assembling a book shelf the other day. I popped out my MOD Tempest and sliced the bags that hold all the fasteners open. Then, I was trying to put on a piece of decorative stuff that was supposed to slide on to some short dowell pins. It was too close to another fixed part of a shelf and the holes didnt' line up just right. I shaved off one side of the dowell pins a little and that helped it slide right on.

Many, many times I've wondered how regular people (those that don't carry knives or tools) get through life when I'm cutting things so often.

Yesterday I saw my wife struggling to open a heavy duty cardboard box containing some frozen bowls of soup and she was having trouble with it even though she was using her Spyderco Dragonfly. I came to the rescue and slashed it to ribbons with my Strider GB. Then I immediately went to the computer to order her a Dodo from NGK. I recognized that in today's knife challenging environment, she was not properly equipped. :D

Thursday I used my calypso jr SE to open a toy for my niece
Friday I made nachos with my lil temp
Saturday I made pizza with it, and opened my snack last night.

who says we need kitchen knives?

I used my SERE to slice up a tomato and lettuce for some burgers a little earlier today for lunch. Also used it to open up some DVDs that I just bought from Wallymart. :D

Me and a pal both cut cigars last night at a club with my SAK, and I clipped a pizza coupon today with my Benchmade 732BT....I admit that was a case of "overkill", but it was fun...yuk yuk

A couple of days ago I used my Sebenza to open the packing of my new Leica binoculars as detailed in this thread.

I used my Buck 110 last night to cut the foil on some champagne bottles. (My wife's best friend was having a party to celebrate her engagement).

I used my Sebenza this afternoon to cut some cloth in order to clean excess oil from the chain of my wife's bicycle.

I used the hook disgorger on my SAK to snuff the wick of a candle this evening.

I used my Sebenza this afternoon to cut open the plastic wrapper of a magazine.

NKPs (non-knife people) must have great teeth and nails...

I can't think of anything I've used my knife to open in the last couple of days. Although, I've been sick with a cold, and that just takes the fun out of cutting things. The other day, I did use my a SAK to cut some clear plastic packing tape.

My favorite recent one though was on Christmas, I had my Cuda MAXX in my pocket, when my cousins asked what kind of knife I was carrying. Out it came and open with a click and my aunt said, "Oh goodness, you could kill someone with that, you have no need for a knife!" 20 minutes later she was opening her christmas present that was wrapped and taped up with bubble wrap...after several minutes of fighting with the packaging, out came the Maxx and away went the wrapping. She didn't say anything else about the knife, for the rest of the day. :D ;)

Just used my Delica to open the package of my dog's new chewtoy. I'm with Otter on this one...seeing folks open stuff with their dental work gives me the willies!

Last thing I cut was some wood. The girlfriend gave me an 18v cordless drill for Xmas so I've been making boxes and whatnot lately. Anyways, been using my Frosts Mora a lot when woodworking, I'm awful with my hand saw so I usually end up wittling the ends to square them. So far I can't get the thing to dull up, 5 boxes later and I can still slice my steak clean and easy.

Speaking of hand saws, any tips on getting a nice straight line without a mitter box? Sorry I know that's way off topic.

I used my scallion to customize the "custom made" rubber floormats for my truck. Traced out the pattern on the back of the new mats with a marker, using the original mats as a template. Then the trimming started.

I cut out a curtain for my shower window from a new shower curtain. Fit's and looks nice. Matches the one on the shower perfect. My wife want's to know why there is a big hole in the shower curtain...................oops!! I used my SAK Tinker.

I used my Ti-Lite just a couple of hours ago to cut the plastic safety wrap from a new container of cottage cheese. About a week or so before that, I used the same knife to cut open my new Sirius radio receiver.

I'm happy to report that I haven't cut ME in quite some time now.

I just severed 42, 12 oz cans in two with chainsaw chain shop knife.
Cause the football game couldn't keep my attention!!

a couple of hours ago i used a busse bm-e to cut up meat for a stew just so i could use my favorite knife. (fun) :D

yesterday i used a tops street scalpel to open up phone book bundles on the mail route (not fun) :(

Yesterday I used my Fallkniven A1 to cut the string on two round bails, opened some bags of horse food, and to tidy up the end of some poly pipe. after that my Ranger Knives RD7 got to assist with some tree trimming: one inch branches just flew away.

I used my Buck Alpha crosslock twice today, for completely different reasons (neither of which involved its intended hunting purpose). At a friend's place, I used the saw blade to cut through a piece of masonite; he doesn't have any tools whatsoever, so this was literally the only way we could accomplish that task. He'll be getting a SAK next Christmas. Later on this evening, I used the spearpoint blade to prepare a chicken for dinner. Now that's a versatile knife.

Cheers,

Mike

Hello all! Last night we used my BM 42 bali-song to slice goat cheese and spread it on some tasty little crackers. :D

Hm, well... I did use my SOG autoclip 42 to open a dvd. Some of the plastic on those things is a real pain.

Well today I
Trimmed/deburred some kydex I was making sheaths with
Cut some sandpaper into strips to finish a knife handle
Sliced and scraped some epoxy off the tang of that knife
Cut up dowboard insulation we were putting up in my dad's shop
Opened a bale of hay feeding the horses
Probably more but I can't remember.
