What I Would Like To See Buck Make

Well, my Benchmade 710, which replaced my Buck 560 which replaced my Buck 112, is nearing the end of its life. I've been looking around for a suitable replacement, and I just can't say any particular knife really moves me. In my opinion Buck had an amazing thing going in the 560, I would love to see a 560 with thumb studs. I understand about the factory that processed the titanium burning down. The titanium was cool, I liked the gee-whiz factor, but the titanium isn't why I liked the knife. I liked the 560 because of the ample blade length, the secure handle, reliable lock and rugged simplicity of the all-metal design. If Buck were to make a knife in the image of the 560, using steel for the handle instead of titanium, they could make those lightening cuts full cut outs if they wanted to saved weight, and added double thumb studs I would be proud to carry a Buck in my pocket again.

That sure sounds like a nice variation of the 110. I agree that holes in the handle would be necessary to reduce the weight. Of course, it may end up being slippery unless it was also textured.

Joe, I love the 110. I would really love one with the S30V blade in the Cabela's 110, with titanium in place of brass in the frame. Not like the all titanium handled ones, but with the normal construction with titanium replacing the (very heavy) brass.
I would buy a pair as soon as available. I have a normal 110, 2 in BG-42 and 2 in S30V. :D

Titanium frames instead of brass, now thats a new twist. I like that idea. The inlays would look good if they were black, say G-10. The more i think about it, the more i want one!

Alright, Joe!!!.
I'm first in line!!!I'll take 2, at least!
(Imagine Pavlov's dogs)
BTW, Ebony, Ironwood, Cocobolo, or even black micarta would be super.

How about a finger groove 110 in wood and brass but following the 560 handle shape (which has some of the best finger grooves going)?

Darn,
Now I can't say it was my idea!
I seriously doubt it will ever be made but who knows?

That sounds like a nice variation of the 110. Titanium frame and bolsters(heat colored) and checkered G10 slab inserts. BG42 blade, of course. ;) :)

Joe, Why do you doubt that a 110 like I described would be built? If I understand correctly, 500 is the minimum for a special run. I don't think there would be any problem selling 500 titanium framed, S30V-bladed 110's

This is a little bit of a departure from this thread's topic (the venerable 110), but what I'd REALLY like to see Buck make is a Buck Strider Solution Tanto, flat ground in BG-42 :D
Now would that be the sh*t or what?

What, huh? Oh sorry, must have dozed off.
The minimum for a special run would not likely apply to this knife concept. This would actually be an entirely new knife and would require all the engineering time and tooling $$ needed to launch a new product.
I know it may sound like its "just a 110 with titanium sides instead of brass" but we have learned that as soon as we start assuming we are that good, along comes Murphy.
I hope this makes sense.

This is one that I have been trading emails with Joe about the past few days. If we get enough interest maybe we can tald them into a "special run".

How about one of the 703, "COLT", three blade, stockmans, with D2 Steel and either Stag or Jigged Bone Handles? I could even live with a 303 of the same materials as described above. Of course, offered at a price that would make it feasible for most everyone to use for everyday carry.

The folding lockblades are great and I have and use loads of them, but a little slipjoint that can be tucked away in your pocket no matter how nice the surroundings would be very non-threatening and dare I say could even possibly be the standard by which others are judged when it comes to a collectable/usable slipjoint. Many of those offered today by other makers are either collectable or they are usable, very few make a pocket knife that is both.

Thanks,

Brian

Once again, I'll state for the record that I would LOVE to see Buck produce a 3.5 or 3.75" bladed version of the Buck Mayo. I know I'm not alone in this desire.

Huh, and not a single mention of the Buck/Strider Solution Tanto???

Guess I'm in the wrong pew...

I have been carying an `86 model 426 for the last year, and I DIG it!! Its light weight, has great finger-grooves and that AWSOME blade holds an edge like nobodies business. "What would I like to see Buck make?" Bring back the 426!

I still think this 110 would be a good idea, as it negates the 110's only fault-the weight.

Don't get me wrong, I totally like the idea of a titanium sided 110 with G-10 sides. I'm just not sure it will ever get off the ground. You can bet I will be bugging the engineers about this idea. If I can at least get them to make one! :D
