What if there were no Becker knives?

I have a lot of Bark Rivers and really enjoy them. Fallkniven and ESEE get a lot of belt time also.

As for Customs, I like Bryan Breeden and Brian Andrews.

Hrm - tough question. Probably the KaBar Kukri Machete or the Marine F/U for big(ish) stuff and an Izula or something for everything else. Alternatively, maybe something from HI (I do like the overbuilt nature of the CAK) would fit the bill.

prolly khukris :)

and other stuff. as i already do...

but that's CRAZY TALK man. don't go there.

Dang, what a depressing thought...no Beckers...sheesh!

Well, if I had to choose, I'd say ESEE and BHK. I own goodies from both companies and have no complaints about either. Still good old American made too!!

If I could afford it though, I would definitely go with Fiddleback Forge, or Turley Knives. Both makers make some wicked stuff!!

If the Becker knife (knives) never existed, what would you be carrying instead?

For me, it would still be something from Kabar. I love the Potbelly. If not that one, it would probably be the old stand by 1217.

Or it'd be a custom of some kind. Those are pretty much my first choices for fixed blade knives anyway.

I was going to get a bk-7 but bought the Potbelly instead. :p I like it and it sure has a heck of a long sweeping edge. Quarter inch thick doesn't hurt either. If no Becker ? Dunno, I've been all over the place. Ka-bars including the kukri that I gave away, Kershaws, Spydercos, Buck, on and on. Actually I have given away a bunch of knives. I still have that first Camillus Becker though. I came a hair from ordering a bk-9 a few days ago but passed on it. It may happen some day but I have plenty of big wood whackers right now, and a few more coming in. About all I'm waiting for now are the tweeners.

I'm gonna answer the title question; "What if there were no Becker knives?"

The world as we know it would not exist!

I'd do more customs or semi-customs.
Folks like Dan Koster or Andy Roy or Ray Laconico would get my money.
However, keep in mind that Busse's sister companies also make a durn nice knife at a decent price.
Nothing wrong with a Scrapyard or a Swamp Rat, and they're American made.

Then this would be a really weird forum, populated by a bunch of people with the same mass hallucinations.

No Becker...

Hmm, ESEE or one of the great custom makers ML, JK, Brian Andrews...

I'd be carrying a knapped piece of obsidian...;)

Yeah, but the handle would be too slick and you would have to wrap it in rubber, or some kind of grip tape. Plus, I don't know about their customer service. Can you convex that?
