What if they had met?

Just had a crazy thought, what if Horace Kephart and George Washington Sears (Nessmuk) actually had met? Maybe different time frame or even different parts of the nation, but what would they talk about? Or maybe if they never met, was there any acknowledgement of one another? Just curious and maybe I can do,some research. What are your opinions or ideas?

Let's get some ideas here, folks. :D. Moderators, please move this to the outdoors forum if needed.

First give a little background on these people. If in fact they're people. Then tell why it would be an event if they did meet.

Your thread had me counting the pills in my prescription bottle.

I took mine.

C'mon guys, you do not know who these guys from the late 1880's the earlier 1900's are? They were the outdoor/wilderness campers/adventures of their day, before all the Dual Survivor, Bear Grylls, Les Stoud, Survivor, and Naked and Afraid!!...... Bushcraft......!!!!. Oh, well, I guess I am just spitting into the wind. :D That is why I suggested this may have been better placed in the Outdoors section of this forum.

I'll guess. They might have talked about the outdoors and the wilderness and maybe camping and stuff?

In a drunken stupor they argued long and hard over knife designs.

They agreed to collaborate,

...but the deal was nixed when they couldn't decide on whether to call it a Kepmuk or a Nesshart.

Or so the story goes. ;)

What if Horace Kephart and George Washington Sears (Nessmuk) actually had met ... except that Kephart was 9 feet tall and could fly, and Nessmuk was a robot from outer space! Who would win the inevitable epic knife fight?

Maybe this is more "Prac Tac."

This is just a way two compare their different outdoor experiences and their take on what tools would best meet their needs and ways at looking at bushcraft and camping in the wild. At best, I think both would encourage others to get outdoors and experience what life has to offer.:D

C'mon you guys don't know kephart? Lived in a national park. Was kick ass and lived off the land. Isn't the where the name kephart for the knife was coined from too??

Oddly enough no.

Of COURSE it is where it came from! And WE are the ones who don't know about him?!?

It seems like if it is not the latest tactical, or from a video game or TV show, it's too far above them. You're wasting your breath in the wrong forum to get any appreciation for two men who where pivotal figures in the outdoor movement, and did way more knife work in one week than these guys will do in a lifetime. Let alone have knives named after them a century after they lived. These knives are still in use today by outdoorsmen who actually go outdoors.

Yes. That's it. Everyone here in General is too stupid to be able to partake in a nonsensical hypothetical. That's why this thread never took off.

Well from some of the replies it would make you wonder.

I'd assume they'd talk about all the nonsense happening at the time. Like Yosemite wanting to put colour changing lights under their waterfall. Or how the smokeys were being completly stripped of old growth. Or maybe the insane path the future would bring for the country.

I dunno, the path that was unravelling during that time. Things like WW2, nukes, jumps in technology. Stuff they would have never expected to see happening within(their) next 20 or so years. Seem a bit quick on the draw there, what were you expecting me to say? Something bad about the US?
