What if they had met?

It seems like if it is not the latest tactical, or from a video game or TV show, it's too far above them. You're wasting your breath in the wrong forum to get any appreciation for two men who where pivotal figures in the outdoor movement, and did way more knife work in one week than these guys will do in a lifetime. Let alone have knives named after them a century after they lived. These knives are still in use today by outdoorsmen who actually go outdoors.

So you came just to criticize? You didn't even participate in the discussion!

Moved to Wilderness & Survival Skills, which is what Kephart and "Nessmuk" were about.

Talk about them please. Snide remarks about those of us who don't spend our lives in the great outdoors is insulting and off-topic.

Well, I for one would love to be at that campfire. From reading their works it would most certainly be informative.

Kephart would have likely had little to say to Sears. Sears was quite the mooch from what I have read and expected others to feed him from their supplies, give him money etc. Nope, can't see Kephart abiding with that for long.

A gentlemanly handshake, & then Kephart demonstrates his firelighting skills.

Why not imagine John Muir sitting down at that campfire too?
John Muir (April 21, 1838 – December 24, 1914)
George Washington Sears (December 2, 1821 – May 1, 1890)
Horace Sowers Kephart (September 8, 1862 – April 2, 1931)

Heck, let's make it really interesting and throw Otto von Bismarck (1 April 1815 – 30 July 1898) and a bottle of Schnapps in there, just for shites and giggles. :D

Kepharts book, Camping and woodcraft proves nothing really changes. with this sentence early in the book
If some misguided genius should invent a camping equipment that nobody could find fault with, half our pleasure in life would be swept away
:D:confused::D we are still looking for perfect gear all most 100 years later
Roy

Edit I was looking at publishing date of second edition 1917 first printing was 1906 over 100 years later
