What in the heck is this on the blade of my BRAND NEW Queen Canoe???

I've seen this on lower priced Buck knives and even on a modern folder or two but never on a Queen! It pretty much is on the entire leading edge of both blades. It won't wipe off and when I tried to wipe it I cut myself on it! I think it happened after they ground the blades (it has tool marks on it) and appears to be quite permanent, it'll probably take years to wear it off. I didn't think Queen would ever ship a knife in this condition...

I'm not sure what I'm looking at here. Do you mean the diagonal grind lines on the blade, the vertical black lines at the top of the blade near the spine or the squiggly lines along the edge?

Unless I'm really missing something, it doesn't look that bad. Tooling marks on production trad blades are somewhat common in my experience.

Or is it that black stain burn mark thing at the front top of blade? or is that just the light?
I'm in the "not sure what the problem is" camp at the moment. More pics or send it back to dealer or Queen-they would be able to deal with the problem best.

He has to be talking about the edge. Correct Macchina? Queens (from what I understand) shipped without a suitable one there for a while...

I think Macchina is making a joke. As in the knife came sharp from the factory. How dare they?!

I believe they are putting an edge on them now to clarify which side of the blade is the spine.

For some reason Queen decided knives should now come with an edge, my latest Barlow cut me taking it from the box, was not expecting that:) They really should warn you.

I have to admit, I stared at that picture for a couple minutes trying to figure out what the problem was. Dang you, Macchina!!

Augie, how do you like that Barlow?? I was considering a Queen Barlow myself but have no experience with the Queen Co. What's the fit and finish like?

Shadow, the knife is top notch, fit, finish and function is excellent. I'm so impressed with this one I'm probably going to order a buffalo horn one.

That's what i was looking at myself!! Good to hear the quality is good. Thanks!

Same dad gum thing happened to me when I opened this new #69. Almost bit me it was so sharp.

I mean really, what can they have been thinking of? This is what happens when the skilled are allowed to run riot, just when you thought it was safe to run your thumb - or tongue...-along the edge they do this:eek::confused:

Well let's be realistic girls & boys, putting them out like this must be adding hugely to the cost of production which the dealers will then have to pass on to the consumer:rolleyes:

People may be denied their high horse of self righteousness too:)

Be careful what you wish for:eek:. Right!:D:cool:
