What in the heck is this on the blade of my BRAND NEW Queen Canoe???

I've seen this was an issue on Queen's D2 for years. Glad to see they are putting a good edge on them now. I still polish the factory edges on all my knives :).

I have bought a few Queen knives recently, all have had a good edge out of the box. I am loving the Buffalo line. But I have to admit, I was looking hard at the picture to see what was wrong. A good chuckle in the A.M.

It's great to hear that Queen is doing a better job on the edges these days but Macchina must have just gotten lucky. Wasn't the Queen Canoe discontinued several years ago?

I found a dealer with several Amber Carved Bone Canoes in stock. I've fallen for the canoe pattern lately and the Queen is a great representation of the pattern. I believe it was just luck that I got a decent edge because my other Queens from this vintage (3-4 years ago) are butter knives.

In really glad to great the new manufacture is coming out sharper.

With Queen's reputation of poorly honed edges in the past I feel compelled to also give them credit where credit is due. I bought a new in box Queen Canoe a few months ago myself and both blades had a good working edge on them. I did touch them up to my satisfaction but I could have easily used the knife straight from the box.

that's exactly what I thought.

I did have one queen copperhead from last year with a good edge on it, too many gaps in the backsprings though.

I bought a Queen small Stockman (with beautiful Zebrawood scales.) While the D2 steel is marvelous, the factory edge left a bit to be desired. As I had said in an earlier thread, Tom Veff handily cured the problem.

Clever joke, Macchina.

Well done:) I love queen knives, and have 4. However, ALL of them came to me dull! Not a big deal, but something I have come to expect. I am glad they are doing a better job now.
By the way: the queen canoe is my favorite pattern!

Amazing. It only took 25 years for someone at Queen to figure out that 80° included is not the ideal edge angle for a pocket knife. Will wonders never cease?
