What is a "Fighter"?

Extreme sharpness, speed, slightly tip-heavy balance, and the ability to cut both ways.

I do not place a lot of credence on stabbing as a defensive manuever... it's pretty unlikely to poke an assailant and instantly stop them from hurting you. It is, however, relatively easy to cut the tendons/muscles on a bad guy's arm and take away their ability to keep attacking you. Then... run.

I was referring to a real Bagwell custom knife not a discontinued Ontario production model.

One I just finished that I feel fits at least a loose definition of Fighter:

And then one for the Finely Dress Fighter Enthusiast:

Karl, those are some beautiful knives. In a deadly wicked sort of way. :).

Well the fighter build has begun. I traced a pattern on some 1084 last night. We will see if I can pull it off.

Here is my knife. Its a pig sticker, but you get the drift.
Its well balanced with extreme distal taper and is very fast and incidentally well suited for the back cut.

When I think fighter, I think Fairbairn. A thin, double edged knife made for cutting on and sticking in people.
+1 Double edged daggers are pretty impractical for anything else, except the Cold Steel Counter Tac 1, which makes a wonderful ice cream scoop (it's concave on one side and can make cone shaped scoops from frozen hard ice cream).

5" kitchen knife or steak knife has probably injured more and killed more than any handmade going, just sayin a time proven design. keepem sharp

Well, I hope this one says "I'm a Fighter"! I looked at about 50 "fighters" and took what I liked and started one.

here it is so far. Rough fitting of handle. Rough grind of Blade done. Will probably heat treat tomorrow.

Ask the right guy :D

A Randall #1 or #14 are 'fighters' to me. The clip point is quite sharp and the knife has an excellent guard.

What's a fighter ?

A knife made to be used in combat conditions : stabs and liquids on the handle ; So you need a secure handle with a big choil or guard or an extremely grippy material. ( a lanyard is always good to have )

Every other detail of the knife depends on your needs or tastes.

Bowie with 9+ inch blade. I also am a fan of Mr. Bagwell's custom bowies, maybe someday I will be an owner of one :P

Some progress, Should have the handle on later tonight. But here it is so far, Some times with a Hamon, you don't get what you are going for. But that doesn't mean I don't like it :)
