So, within the last few months, I've been getting these friend requests. :D:thumbup: (Makes me feel special!)
Other than them going into my user CP as friends, what is the point of being someones friend? I don't mean to sound critical about it, I'm just curious if there is something that can be done between members if they are "friends" as apposed to just being two forum members.Or is it just a private way of making someone feel special?

Also, if someone asks you to be a friend, are you supposed to reciprocate, or are you automatically added as one of there friends?

I'm just curious, because I don't want to offend anyone if I'm supposed to be doing something else with these people because they are now my friends. Or do I just do what I've been doing, accept them, and go about my business?

I figure it is for off-topic gossip. I've routinely ignored all requests. On my forums at least, as much as it does good, I am well aware that members use it to foster ill will and conspire to back stab each other. Not for me.

I use mine for ease of PMs, and for people I have had positive deals with.

What does it get you?

Occasionaly when I post items for sale, I give discounted prices to those on my list. Just something I do.

I dont know about the conspiring thing, but I suppose it could happen.

It also makes it kinda handy to check someones profile when dealing on the exchange. Feedback, friends, and post count etc.. It helps me judge charicter, and if we have common friends, i can ask about em if I am having any doubts about a deal...

Once you accept their friendship request you are on their list, so you don't need to do anything else.

I use it to quickly be able to contact someone. Jake occasionally sends me hugs, which I try to ignore..., but a couple sneak in:barf:

Also, I would think it'd be slightly easier to look up posts that your "friend" posted to or started.

You say you can't stop a bullet, but you don't say anything about Jake calling you Mine. Awwwwwwww.....

:p:D

Thanks! If I ever get to stay away from work long enough, I may even get to make a few more one day:thumbup:

That makes sense. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't supposed to be doing anything special.

P.S. Is there some kinda love triangle going on between j williams, Landar 15, and tonym, that I didn't know about?!

I'm super insecure and narcissistic, so I find that an occasional friend request is just the ego boost I need!;):D

I often send friend requests to people whom I've found to be particularly knowledgeable on a subject, skill, or type of knife. That way if/when I have a question later, I can easily locate that person and PM him without having to dig for threads or posts. The problem is, as you start to accumulate friends, you start to forget who knows what... :o It's also useful for keeping track of people in your geographic area in case you want to meet up with BF people in the real world.
