What is a good fixed blade under $75 or a few totaling it?

The Glock field knife, in my opinion, is not a very good knife. It has it's uses and I do have one. Not real handy for most tasks.

I am fixing to get 4 or 5 Mora's in various configurations and steels (carbon and stainless) and I won't spend more than $75 for sure. Great knives at a great price. I have 2 or 3 of many types. That's what I would do.

2000 is a must, along with the #2 classic laminated, and if you like the clipper design get the Allround in stainless <its a little thicker>
stainless 946 is another favorite of mine.

marttini makes some nice cheap knives too... $20 bucks and a lot better sheaths:thumbup:

<email me for link>... has sheaths available for the moras pretty cheap

I'm looking for something like this too. Was looking at the RAT RC5, Fallkniven
S1. Some of these Benchmades are half the price ... make great beater knives.

Based on your criteria, as I understand it, you should invest in the BK-2. Sounds like a nice intermediate size between what you already have. And you know Becker, since you have a BK9, so that takes some of the guesswork out of it right there (at least as far as handles go, since they are the same). If you're looking for a 5" knife more oriented toward cutting (vs hacking, as the BK-2 is more designed towards), then by all means look at Moras. Hard to beat for the $, and you can find some with quite long blades (up to 8" or so), if that's what your after. Next step from there would be machete IMO, and Condor has some nice offerings. Also, Cold Steel has a pretty decent product. But FTW, Tramontina Bolo. Best $6 I ever spent...

I'm looking to possibly add another fixed blade to my collection my folder bug has died down and I have decided I want something fixed be it a few machetes/cheap knives or one higher quality one.

I might get a glock 78 field knife along with a few machetes from cold steel because I could abuse them all and not care instead worrying about the value on them going down. I'm not opposed to a more expensive knife by any means however I own a BK-9 heavy chopper and a mini KA-BAR so I would probably either prefer something in between the two. or if I can afford it something even bigger than the Becker. I'll eventually buy a busse I expect but right now I only make enough spare cash to afford one my christmas and I would cringe every time I hit something. I can wait a few weeks and have around 160 but I would only spend that much if the knife was a value.

ESEE has the best Heat Treat in the business IMO as well as the best warranty (That's not IMO, that's a fact :)) KABAR would be second for HT as it is also fantastic. However, their warranty is not the same as ESEE, although they do take good care of their customers.

MORA knives are sure hard to beat for the price.
For a more unusual, USA-made knife......ANZA.
They are made out of Nicholson files (W-2 steel), and most are priced under $75.
I got a nice 8" ANZA skinner, with a 4" blade, for under $40.
Nice looking too............................................................

If a busse is in our sights eventually then I assume you have the "bug" (as a guy at my local dealer so aptly put it) and I'd invest in a BM Nimravus. A little over your price range, can be had for around 150... Small potatoes compared to the busses out there but a big value, great steel and a good warranty, I've had great relations with BM, and it'd be the perfect user if you're considering getting a busse- plus it's right in the middle of your bk and the ka-bar.

i have one on, right now. i think this little knife has served me better than any other knife period. it's been attached to my duty belt, it's been concealed, it's went with me on (post disaster) jobs in LA and TX, and been to Asia twice now. the coating absolutely SUX, but now that i've sanded it off, the steel underneath 154CM actually looks pretty nice. why coat stainless anyway  enough good cannot be said about the Nim, it's just an all round handy blade

I am really considering the San Mai SRK It should be tough enough to do what I need it to do, its stainless, the perfect size and I really like the nice kydex sheath however I don't know how tough it will be I would hate to spend 100 dollars on a knife and then damage it and I might be tempted to use it hard once in a while however other options have crossed my mind and Ill list them and what I like and dont like to see if anyone has any suggestions

ANZA
I like the design but I have no clue as to how W-2 compares to 1095 and how rust resistant it is.

KA-BAR
I am actually thinking of buying a couple KA-BARs instead I know the quality is good and the price is very affordable however they are made out of 1095 which here rusts overnight and tufcloth means it cannot touch food also most kabar knives are just short and normal, tanto and clip point I already own a mini kabar. If I do go this route I will not be buying a BK-2 however it is too thick and chopper like and I cannot imagine using it for anything slightly delicate.

ESEE RC-6
I like the warranty and the knife design however its still plain old rusts overnight 1095 as well as after examining the RC-6 sheath I'm not sure if I like it much anymore I don't know how I would use it with a normal belt.

Fallkniven
The S1 would be great if it was not over $120 and an inch shorter then the others it just looks to small and while the A1 would be absolute best except its just too much money.

That being said I still might buy a few machetes instead however that would leave me without a general use knife and I would have to use my benchmade griptilian for everything. Also while not fixed blades I could buy a large amount of sanrenmu to abuse for smaller knife chores however I know I wouldn't be very impressed with the blade steel.

Unless I apply some kind of rust preventive which would probably wear off after each use 1095 WILL rust even if I cleaned off every day, dried and put away in a drawer, stainless is safe and D2 probably would be if it was taken care of but anything less rust is unavoidable
