For starters and even down the road Cold Steel hawks are a good place to begin . if you just want a hawk that'll get the work done they're fine I've used my pipe hawk for years . I only own one other hawk , the RMJ Chogan which i consider more akin to a large hatchet dimension wise . It's a decent hawk as well , did i need it no ? Is it doing something amazing that my Pipe hawk didn't no ? Will a custom do anything my Chogan or Pipe hawk won't , i don't believe so . But then i don't have one either because i haven't felt a "NEED" to go that route . so take what you will from this post , just remember whatever you decide on it's still just a tomahawk and used in conjunction with the other proper tools and skills you could be set for a majority of your outdoors needs in all but the worst conditions .
