What is a Martial Arts Blade? What is Traditional?

Bill & I discussed this awhile back.He had an old Operater friend that could have any blade he wanted,he chose the 15"AK,traveled with him to every hot spot he was involved in.Bill wouldn't give out too much more & told me NOT to post this, kept it quiet until after he left! He also told me,Operator did USE it in Combat(the K won)!
THE DUCK!

Hey Danny...equally trained and motivated men of equal speed and size fight. One has a Khukuri and the other has a ball peen hammer...

I have trouble imagining two men of completely equal training and size and such, but I suppose its possible. I don't know, but I would guess that it would be a bad scene. More than likely they'd manage to hurt each other pretty badly and it might be a question of who gets taken to a hospital first.
This kind of situation is where luck comes into play.
It reminds me of that shootout in Miami between those two bad guys and 4 FBI agents. The bad guys were well-armed and determined and the Feds did not manage to arrest them. They did manage to kill them, but only because the bad guys were outnumbered, and even then the Mini-14 made it almost even for the bad guys.
If I remember correctly, everybody was shot, its just that the bad guys got shot more.

Any and all HI khukuris and knives are great weapons in the hands of a taijutsu expert. The bigger it is, the less you have to move it...

;)

Thank you Danny...that's exactly the answer I was hoping you would give. As I said...the calm one wins (the one not yet ready to go to the hospital).

Anything can be "tactical" or "matial" or "authorized" or whatever buzz-term the marketer wants to call it.

Everything we use is a tool...how it is deployed or used determines it's status and value.

I especially loved Danny's pajamas...official honest to God Ninja jammies. What Danny wears has no impact (except for movement and posible distraction or confusion factors) on the practice of his art. He doesn't have to wear "official" Ninja stuff to win a match. Heck...he could do it nekkid. Maybe he'd win quicker that way in fact.

.

there is an old saying in Japan..
"A strong will can pierce a stone"

As to fighting naked, well, Ive lost al ot of weight since I made those videos, but I aint ready to fight in the buff.
I might fight in my pajamas though, they're so light and airy.

There's the rub, Nasty. If what you wear or what you have in your hands does make a difference in your art, then your art is probably not that useful, now, is it? ITs got to work no matter what the situation or weapon.
Ball peen hammers, or my preference, the geologists hammer, GRS, baseball bat, pickmattock, discarded toilet seat, if you move your A$$ in the right way, you'll be OK.

Here's another fly in the ointment:

Having a strong will doesnt mean using strength.
In fact, one might say its completely the opposite.
A fighting spirit, once so cultivated, usually terrifies the opponent and fighting is a rare thing.

A strong will but not a rigid body.

this is all getting so abstract.

Took the words right out of my mouth, Danny.

For one application, I use the Biltons.
I had to build up the handle with Hockey stick tape.
The weight is perfect, just like regulation boxing gloves.
I also feel better because I know the strikes are aimed to taunt.

Here's a bit more detail on the shootout that Danny mentioned:

Clicky

"What's my definition of victory, and what am I prepared to do to achieve it?" Several answers here...some better than others, of course. It's also a good example of how a dead man can continue killing if he hasn't yet gotten the word that he's dead.
