What is a really good torx set for a low price?

I bought a Kobalt set that is like a screwdriver with multiple bits. The handle is hollow and the cap comes off and holds several bits. The bits are two sided so you end up with two sizes per bit. They also have a ball detent in the center to hold positively in the business end of the driver. I like it, have not twisted any yet, has the sizes you need for pocket knives. I also have a Benchmade torx tool kit that is handy, and I believe it has two T6 or maybe two T8's which is nice. It is a little awkward to use, if you find it you will see why, but seems to be of quality. They were both cheap iirc.

If I was looking for one then I would go to sears and buy them by the peace. they are very good and come with a life time warranty too.

Husky at home depot think the whole set was $6.00

Yeah, this is a good one. I recently bought two of them; one to keep at work and another one for home.

Quite a good deal.

I'll third that sentiment. I have two of the Husky torx sets, as well as one of the 'standard' bit sets from them. Never regretted buying them, they're very handy.

I have the Kobalt set too. It's pretty good, but the moment I have a little more "workshop" space, I'll be getting dedicated drivers for each bit size. Still, you can't go wrong with the Kobalt or Husky sets cited here.

You get what you pay for with Torx drives - and I've ruined a lot of cheap torx drives over the years. The inexpensive sets are usually made with lower tolerances and softer metal.

I bought a set of German Wiha torx drives several years ago and have been extremely happy with them. You can really tell the difference when you are using them, especially on precision work, and with smaller sizes (e.g., T6). They fit snug in the screws, they are a lot more difficult to cam-out, and the bits don't deform with pressure. Really good stuff and highly recommended.

That looks like the Kobalt one I have just re-branded.

I have one generally similar Kobalt set, but the handle is somewhat different. The Kobalt's handle is a machined/extruded aluminum with a composite/plastic cap, and more cylindrical, whereas the Husky set is a composite material (both handle and cap), with the faceted shape. My only issue with my Kobalt set is, the cap on the handle is somewhat stubborn to remove, when switching or storing the bits. Don't know if Kobalt has since modified or changed it to be similar or same as the Husky (I bought all of mine several years ago). Otherwise, from a functional standpoint, the two brands are very similar.

Ditto. Wiha tools are fantastic.

I purchased a nice set of small (5 or 6) torx drivers from sears(craftsman) and I love them. Great quality and comfortable, I also have a small set from home depot but they are kind of soft and not exactly properly sized; but they do work just if you are dealing with stubborn threadlock take care.

Harbor freight has a great cheap one I've used for 4 years now... Never any issues

The set that I bought at harbor freight couple of weeks ago is already in the garbage. It rounded off after just a few uses.

I like HF for some things, but this is not one of them.

Sorry they didn't work out for ya... Guess I've been lucky! I also have a couple of the Kershaw key-chain bits and the Husky set, all of which have never given me any issues.

You can get these at lowes hardware. The previously mentioned Husky torx sets are really good as well.
