In a thread, in ths forum, titled "Regular Trappers", late in the thread after many pictures of trappers had been posted, "Blues" (Elliott) said; "......................the OP requested "Regular Trappers" and not mini trappers, heavy trappers, slim trappers and all the other variants."
That brought to my mind just what is a Regular Trapper? Is it a 4 1/8" long (closed) two bladed knife comprised of a clip blade and a spy blade with square bolsters? What about a 3 5/8" trapper with a clip blade and spey blade with square bolsters. Many times a kinfe such as this is called a mini-trapper but to my mind it is just a smaller version of a regular trapper and not necessarily called a mini-trapper by all manufactures. Do rounded bolsters or different blade shapes (wharncliffe, drop point, spear, etc.) on a 4 1/8" (closed) trapper prevent it from being described as a "regular trapper"?
I have several trappers of varying lenghts, blade configurations, bolsters (one a bareheaded trapper) and to me they are trappers.
So what is a "regular trapper"?
Elliott, I am offering this up for discussion and by no means mean it as a negative to you in any way. Although probably not your intent, I feel you have raised an interesting question, at least in my mind.
