What is best locking system on a combat folder?

Hmm...Axis lock, Frame lock, Back lock...i think...we'll see what the others recommend.

Have a nice weekend:-)

The lock on the Spyderco Chinook III is a very thick, heavy duty lock back that can withstand some outrageous amount of force without failing, and it was designed that way with combat in mind, so the blade would not close during blocking and passing with the blade. The lock can also be found on the Manix.

I would say spyderco would probably be the only backlock I would be comfortable with. I say the framelock or a well executed liner lock like the emerson or bladetech.

Axis doesn't work well in ultra muddy environments.

I'd go for framelock, if possible.

My vote goes to none! :p Fixed blade is the only way to go in a life or death situation. But if it needs to be a folder, then a bailsong, NO question.

No such thing as a combat folder. I think a folding knife is always a weapon of opportunity, like a pool cue in a bar fight.

In a fight, I would feel least confident with a liner lock. I like button locks and balisongs. Frame locks are also good.

A good combat knife doesn't fold. That said, I have a cheap China made Winchester lockback that you could spine whack all day, full force, without affecting it.

4" blade? came in a tin? I have it if yours is the same!!

I have never been in combat, and hope to God I never will, but I feel the most comfortable with a Frame lock - specifically those that with added pressure on the spine or tip will cause the locking frame side to travel over toward the other frame side.
In essence meaning the more force applied, the tighter the lock.

in the folder realm, They also seem more easy to clean if you are out in the field, and have less moving parts, which translates to me as less likely (is that how you spell that:-) to break..

I think axis locks and frame locks, are the best. The frame lock wouldn't work well in all conditions no lock can work in ALL conditions, a fixed blade is certanly the way to go.
