What is best locking system on a combat folder?

The one you're carrying? (sorta joking)

Any good lock that you trust should do.

I like Axis.

Lost my trust of frame-, liner-, and back locks.

Well done pinlocks I still trust, though these are usually auto.

Balis are nice, but I've cut myself one too many times to want to rely on one for under stress use.

I trust the Compression lock the most. It is pretty debris-resistant and, IMHO combines the advantages of the integral lock and Axis with the disadvantages of neither. Integral locks are known to be pretty tolerant of debris and are simple, so theoretically there are few points of failure, and Axis locks resist force against the spine of the blade tang perpendicular to the direction that the mechanism unlocks.

For combat I'd much rather have a fixed blade, but for a folder my favorite lock is definitely the Axis Lock!

In a combat folder? The plunge lock with the secondary safety engaged like on the Masters of Defence CQD DD Mk1

I think the Zero Tolerance 0200ST is really awesome. It is extremely well made, especially for the price. I got mine from Recon-1 (thanks Sako). It's a liner lock. For a folder, it is very durable. The liner is quite thick. Check out Kungfumo's review (excellent pics). I compared this folder to backlocks, axis, compression, and monolock. This is my favorite because of the ergonomics. Holding it gives a reasuring feeling. You have to hold it to know what I'm talking about. Good job Ken Onion and Kershaw. Ivan Hank

Without a doubt...the Bali-Song!
They have seen "combat" in the Phillippines for many many decades.

The Lock-back and the Axis-lock are both good too.

I would not trust a liner-lock or a frame-lock for a combat folder.

MOD's 875 recurved, dropped point fighter with a button lock. I have all types of knives and all sorts of locks on them, for me the button lock suffices in this "combat" folder. :) Anyways extremely strong lock up. Keepem sharp
