Still learning the lingo. I have seen a few posts in the Exchange that refer to a CBT. What is that, exactly?

Thank you.

Corrugated Bevel Technology. CGFBM, Hellrazor, Jackhammer, HG55 all have it. The original versions, at least.

So that is the horizontal lines seen on some of the BMs?

Yes, the corrugations on the Combat Grade Fusion Battle Mistresses. I always thought they were neat. I had a Comp Finish Jackhammer that had it. Wish the Busse folks would offer more CBT.

For a minute, I was going to write "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy" but then I realized this is BF. None of the Busse addicts need that...right ;) ?

They actually reduce weight while adding lateral strength.

Hate to nitpick, but this is actually incorrect.

If you have reduced weight by adding fullers, the structure is not as strong as it was. The corrugations are like a bunch of small fullers.

It is like the concept of structural I-Beams. The I-beam is lighter than a solid beam of the same external dimensions, and nearly as strong. It is stronger than an equivalent beam of the same mass, but much larger in dimension.

So your saying it reduces weight but doesn't not add any extra strength?

Correct - taking away metal does not usually ADD strength ;) But in the case of these knives, there is more than enough metal there for the necessary strength to accomplish MOST tasks... So still plenty strong, just a bit lighter, like the TGLB vs TG.

I believe they are supposed to aid in chopping as it reduces sticking into the wood your chopping

It's like those cheese knives with the divots in them. The ridges reduce the amount of surface area dragging on the substance being cut.
