Okay I know this has been covered before, but I don't have the search option. First off I know Double Cut is bead blasted, I just want to know is it a coating too? Or is this just how the blade looks after the bead blasting. I guess what I'm saying will the DC always stay on the blade or can it come off like coatings? Sorry for the rookie question. Thanks in advance for any help.

PS Also how do you clean your DC blades?

It is bead blasted twice with different mediums,
no coating on the DC at all:thumbup:

I think somehow we need to make a sticky describing double cut. I know that was a question I had as I first delved into the world of Busse.

First cut with an abrasive media, then with glass beads to smooth and seal the surface.

Clean up with soap and water.

there should be a sticky helping to describe ALL the funky busse names and acronyms, and such!

because it seems to me that once you understand what most of the common acronyms stand for you can decipher all of them pretty much!

Not so sure about now, but 5 or 6 years back, Jerry said that first the knives were brought to a satin finish and then done with ceramic beads.

Satin finish=first cut
Bead blast=second cut

Never heard of the abrasive media or the glass beads, but it may be so now as the ceramic beads were made in France. ZIRBLAST IIRC:confused:

The ceramic beads were stupidly expensive, but what a soft beautiful finish.:D

Have you noticed the third sticky at the top of this forum?
