What is everyone choice for a great multi-tool

I think the Vic Spirit (basic model) is hard to beat for a multi-tool. Have been really liking the small ones that Leatherman makes of late and for me, they give me most of what I might need. And, I actually carry one of these. I keep the Spirit outside in my field bag. It's available for use. Whatever I choose, it always has a pliers as that is my primary use for these tools. I usually have a knife on me, so the blade doesn't get used or rarely.

Of all the brand multi-tools, Gerber and some of the off the shelf no-name ones are the only ones I will not buy now. I have several Gerbers and a Gerber was in fact my very first multi-tool. I've had it a long time and it does not get used.

For me, it is the Swiss Army Tool, had this one for many years, while on the road working in many glass factories, this was a constant companion and used several times a day, so versatile it's crazy.

back in 94' I had a Sog one that was pretty cool but gave it to a friend while we were in Mexico as he was going to be married that year, he lives in Brazil so I'd not make it to his wedding ;)

edited to add, Ken, that is a solid pile of workers right there too, along with some excellent leather work sir!

Vic Pioneer or Farmer on person, but I am waiting for a Pioneer X. It might become the new King of the Left Pocket, we shall see...

Rebar in my bag.

I happily put up with the extra weight and size of the Surge , but many people seem to shy away from it for that reason .
I own a Sidekick , Skeletool , Wave and the Surge .
I do occasionally carry the Wave , but the other two never see the light of day anymore .
When I do use the Wave it always surprises me how small it is , it seems like a toy And kind of delicate .
I feel I should say that I don't work in an office , I'm outside all the time in a agricultural contracting environment so my requirements are probably more hard core than most . Also I never carry a Multitool on weekends and after work , for me a multi is just another tool of my trade and the Surge is a tool not a toy .

Nice family photo! I really like the sheaths! I had a few Surges and sold them off. I am on the prowl for another one.

Thanks for sharing!

I have a few tools: Gerber 400 and 600, an old U.S. Schrade ToughTool, and an original Leathermanan Super Tool (OST.) I'm using the OST pretty regularly, and from the thread I started here a couple weeks ago, a lot of other folks still use their OST's too.

My recommendation would be the Leathermanan Super Tool 300. I had one several years ago, and they are one if the most capable tools on the market.

If you go with the ST300 and a Victorinox Classic (tweezers, toothpick, small scissors, small blade) on your keyring, you're set for life.

For me, the best one is the Victorinox
This Swiss tool has 38 different operational functions. The multi tool includes pliers, several flat and Phillips screwdrivers, a bottle opener, large and serrated knives and more.

Swisstool Spirit is a great multi-tool, but the same review that proclaims it the best also has good words to say about some of the crummiest on the market. Although in this case they get a pass, consider the source before relying on this site's reviews.

I have a Charge TTI, but I think the Wave which is roughly $40 less is every bit as good.

If you are not needing it for heavy duty work, the Juice S2 in a very useful tool that is an easy carry in the pocket.

Vic Tinker in pocket or Deluxe Tinker in belt pouch for me. Don't want to have to unfold a knife/tool six ways before I can use it.
