What is it about Busse that makes you want to..

Tell absolutely everyone you know to buy one? I got my friend to buy a Tankbuster and he's someone who has never owned a more expensive knife than a 20 dollar machete. Everytime someone asks on a forum "what fixed blade should I buy for...?), I don't even read the entire post and just say "Busse". I mean, I only own one, and am getting my second next week, but I no longer see a point in even toying with the idea of other knives. I'm not really a "collector", I'm a HARD user of all my tools, so I see no other need to buy inferior/less durable products, just to have a variety. Besides, it's a lot of fun for someone to say "does anyone have a knife or scissors?" to cut a tag off their shirt and you pull out an ASH-1 and have them just look like you're insane. Wait until I get my NMFBM and EDC that sucker with my ASH piggy backed. :D

Does your only Busse happen to look like this??? :D;)

I actually don't tell them to buy a Busse.

I tell them to buy a scrap yard. When I bought my first SY, I was like "no way will I ever buy a Busse - INFI sounds cool and all, but that's WAY too much money"

Now I've spent more than I care to admit on INFI, and am jonesing for more...

The trick is to hook 'em on the inexpensive stuff, and then let them graduate to the hard stuff when they need a heavier fix. Scrap Yard is a gateway drug

Not that I'll be letting go of my SY blades any time soon - I'm just too much of a player to limit myself to one. Hogs, dogs, and rats are all welcome here :D

I first bought the NMSFNO LE when it was still available on the website. The reason I bought it was because of the destruction testing on knifetests.com (I honestly think Jerry should put some destruction test videos on the Busse Combat website). I generally use my tools as well, and I wanted a knife I could rely on in just about any situation, particularly for survival and SHTF situations (aka zombies). Aside from that, I think you should always buy the best tools you feasibly can to begin with, and Busse Combat Knives just fit the bill. Will I be batoning through chains, or prying car doors open on a daily basis? No, but I'm prepared if that situation were to arise.

As for the rest of my growing collection, after a while, I wasn't satisfied with having one. As I told Waz at Blade Show West, "They're like puppies at the window of a pet store. How can you say no to any of them?" INFI goodness should be shared with the rest of the world. Use one, and you'll be a believer too.

I can't get into scrapyard blades, I don't know why. They look like they're great knives, they just don't do it for me. I do know that the Dogfather has sparked my interest more than once, and if I came across one for it's original price, i'd consider one, but for 400 more, I could just buy a Battle Mistress and get the knife I REALLY want. I do have my eye on a swamprat waki though.

Scrap Yard Knives are simply awesome.

MM is right...the general order of awakening/progression for most in "the masses" is from Scrap Yard to Swamp Rat to Busse Combat.

I fought it for a long time. I mean, a bunch of mostly semi-adult men giving themselves pig names and paying that much for a blade? Thats whack!

But then I bit the bullet and dropped 3 bills for an ASH-1, and that pretty much had me. I added a TB, and am waiting on another. The steel and the feel is just awesome, so I can't really see myself going back. How could I?

Why invite others? It's like a more manly (without intending to insult the female Busse fanatics) version of the "power shopping" experience that many women have when they congregate at the local malls. They get together, and coax each other into buying more shoes, purses, makeup, clothes, jewelry etc. that they don't really need. Throughout the day, they convince each other to buy one more item, accessory etc. etc. and the frenzy reaches feverish paces as they progressively enable each other.

The difference is that, with Busse, there are no regrets.

For me, a big part of the equation is the company behind the knives, specifically that the company firmly stands behind their products, and their employees jump through flaming hoops to make things right. The other part of the equation has to do with the knives themselves. Both parts of the equation are big pluses.

+1

Agreed, I'm a huge advocate ever since day one with my first (.32 ASH, DC, Black Magnum G10). you have no idea until you hold and use one. I've turned three people onto them so far, and a few others are interested.

The knives themselves are the best I've ever used, and combined with the warranty, the people/company, and the community - it's the best around. I only wish I'd have realized it sooner and gotten some old deals... ;)

Like, I really wish I had a Thin NICK, a SHSJ, and a SHBM, etc - but I don't collect, I only buy users, and I'm not spending secondary prices on vintage users, so I wait for new stuff like the Bushwacker and deal with it.

Besides, the ASH is hardly a slouch, and the Bushwacker is looking like it'll be an outstanding knife of that size, and new SHSJs are showing up at shows for cheap, an SHBMs too (not so cheap, but better than the Exchange).

So there's still hope of getting most of what I wanted without breaking the bank. I have many other interests too.

;)

All I know is that my wallet has been crying lately. :D

Its funny to think about how long I took to finally get up the courage to buy my first Busse, a SAR4DC. Dennis in MA hooked me up. That was in September. Since then Ive added two more SAR4s and an ASH-1. NO REGRETS!
