What is it about the giant sized folders???

I love the the big folders and have a few, most of the Cold Steel L and XL Voyagers, Rajah II, Spartan etc. I know they are not the most practical knives to carry or use. But there is a unique
feeling that goes from the hand up the arm to the heart when I hold one these beasts. And it is not power, intimidation or anything like that. It's just a good feeling I can't put into words and
I like it. You all know what I'm talking about. It is why we gather here and share that feeling with one another. We are "Blade Brothers" and that is all there is to it.

And again, I'm too old now to care what others may think, and after having a life changing event to occur I'm just content to carry what I want as long as I remain the upstanding citizen that I am, no joke intended as I really am an upstanding citizen......besides for personal defense I carry a Sig Sauer P232, at least I will as soon as my CCW permit gets issued!

So I know there are many others out there that like the XL-XXL folders that are to had in this day and age. What are some of your favorites and how do you feel about carrying them???

I love my Cold Steel Voyager XL w/clip blade. I feel that it's a solid, well-built knife that offers a lot of utility. I especially enjoy using it for food prep.

I EDC "large" folders pretty much everyday because that's just what I like. I even EDC my Pohl Force Alpha 3 once in a while and for those that don't know it makes a Strider SMF look small. I would post a pic but I'm out of town and don't have one with me.

I have a Dalibor Regulus. Dalibor took HD to another level IMO! I don't use it much at all now. Mine is 1 of the first few he made. He hand sharpened the 3V blade.

I should probably sell or trade it. I just haven't gotten around to doing that tho.

I still have one of those Benchmade LFK's. Pretty nice knife for what, IIRC $65.00.

As for Cold Steel, yeah, I got a few of the really BIG ONE's.

A few more various BIG ONE's.

Ive never liked Cold Steel large folders because it makes me feel like it's being big just for the sake of being big. I've had a Raja II and I found it to be useless as it can't chop good, it cuts "ok" but the plastic handle seems to bite into my palm from the inside when I use it so sold it went.

A ZT 0550 2nd gen is something I carry with me every single day. Doesn't feel like a tank, just feels like a knife ready to do it's job.

My favorite big honker, but not too big, is the Benchmade 630 Skirmish. It has a great grip and the recurve blade really cuts.

Hi cutter -

I am glad to hear that you are back in the game after your stroke, and seeing you wanting knives is a good thing (at least it is to a knife fan like myself...)

I parallel you in that I carry a Victorinox (Waiter) for use in cutting up fruit and smaller cutting chores, but I love knives and I like big knives.

I have the 600, and a 300, and a Cutters Brend - which are all larger than average folders. I don't find them to be awkward to carry, and I just like having a big knife.

I never consider my knives as anything for self defense, they are just shiny sharp things that I like to have. My knives satisfy the little boy that remains in me, and which I hope never goes away.

I like the stiletto look of the CS knives you posted, so thanks for another knife I will have to investigate (there's that little boy again lol...)

Are you in Illinois? I ask because of the CCW reference, many of us are waiting for that to come to fruition.

best

Thanks for the well wishes mqqn.

I saw the Cutters Brend you posted in the "Show me your titanium" thread and I love it!

Not Illinois, but N.C. Of course I've now been told the 6 months wait is closer to 3 months, so maybe not too much longer efore I can add the P232 to my edc lineup!

I'm not a fan of overly large folders or tanks.

My limits are a four inch blade for size and 7 ounces for weight.

Nice steel Robert. Although the smallest of your pictured Cold Steel blades, the Black Rhino is my favorite. Whenever I come across one I find myself captivated by it. Wish they were still available. Consider yourself fortunate to possess such a beautiful blade

DDR HTM 5.5 Maxx - convert to tip up so it will wave open (Darrell will do this for a few bucks if you order direct).

Lightning fast pocket spear...and it carries really narrow in jeans.

Honestly, it's so ridiculous you have to love it.

I'm with you guys, for whatever reason I love the really big folders or the super small ones. They both make me smile and convince myself why I need them.
Respectfully, Chance.
