I've owned and sold a few 107s and they have brought anywhere between $75 to $150, what make 'em so collectible?

At the risk of sounding like a smarta$$ I'm going to say supply and demand, like most things;). A SWAG(silly wild a$$ guess) is that they were not produced for very long or in great numbers, and that there are many Buck collectors that want an example of every Buck.

They were dropped from the Buck line in 1992 "due to lagging sales". Quote from Larry Oden in a nice article(Primed for Re-introduction) on the 107 in the BCCI Newsletter, June, 2005. He might be around and give some insight about this model. He thinks that Buck should "...bring back this model in a limited edition, upgraded form."

I personally don't care for the style of the 107...but if I found one at a good price(about the same as a 100 series, yea, right:rolleyes:) I would buy it.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. Preston

What makes any Buck knife so collectible?
This topic could go on forever! Great quality, awesome design, USA made,
Discontinued... I'm sure I will think of more!
My father has one, - I want one... I really hope that Buck does come out with an upgraded one! I love this little knife! I love the shape of the blade and handle! Truly a handy well designed knife.
Now that they havent been made in awhile you have to pay to get one!
Hopefully in the next BCCI newsletter they will have more info on the
"custom" 107 scout that has been discussed in previous newsletters!!
I for 1 cant wait!!!! I prefer the look of the older one though with the micarta handle with polished "fingerguard" as the wood handled newer ones didnt appeal to me at all. Just think a 107 Scout with 154CM blade and Stag handle? Or maybe a 420HC blade with some nice rosewood or burl???
The possibilities are endless!
I agree 100% with Larry on this one too! This model would be perfect for reintroduction! Wonderful little rabbit or duck hunting knife!!!!!!!!!

BCCI # 1175

I'm sure I could!

Heres a pic I borrowed off Ebay but its Identical to this. 3 liner, pre 86.

Thats a beauty Triple E!
Thanks for the comparison picture also!
How do you like it?
Jim

I have a user that works very well.
I use it on small and large game....except the
rib cage on deer and elk.I keep it on my left hip.
the sheath is not designed well ....I have slit the front edge
of the sheath with the point.Comes from forcing the knife in with one hand ,and pushing down with my palm.
Dang near cut my left cheek when I sat down.
I now have it reinforced with duct tape.....wonder if Buck still has some sheaths laying around....I'll find out.

i have only seen one in person and it was being used in her kitchen drawer as her main slicer-dicer ... and when i offered to get her a new one for it i got told no and not in a small voice!
so even the ladies know a good knife (kitchen tool to them) when they use one!

The current issue of the BCCI Newsletter has a Members Only Scout 107 with ATS-34, stag, no pins, no numbers coming due in DEC 2006.
150 will be made.

i think i would have rather had s30 but oh well it still sounds good
any serrations ?? or how about bolsters ??
last week on the bay there was the royalty steak knfe set i would have had if i wouldnt have went out carousing

I believe the smallest knife in my Empress Trio set is the 107. Least per the pics and blade descriptions.

To tell ya the truth....... I would go for the 102 before the 107 if I was looking for a user. Near the same blade, and a more comfortable handle.

Different story for a collectable I guess.

I am getting pretty irritated also that there are all these super steels in all the fancy stag collectables. Which I have bought my share of.

But,,,, I am ready for the BCCI to come up with a USER 118 and preferably a 121 or BOTH in S30V, BG42, D2, or the new 154.

Or for Buck to begin offering these steels as a production item. So far my perfect fixed blade for my deer hunting, is the Cabellas Alaskan 110,   Yeah, yeah, you get the picture...

...yer not sayin' those steak knives are 107's are ya??...Who'd a thunk???...

Here is his description........................

Presented at Auction is this Rare and Superb Quality set of BUCK Royalty Line Steak Knives. These Knives were made in the 1970’s and are truly high quality steak knives to be sure. BUT...These knives are highly sought after for another reason. Each one is identical to the very popular and RARE BUCK hunting knife called the Model 107 SCOUT pattern. The True Micarta handles are a Woody Brown instead of black. Other than that, they are virtually identical to the older 107 SCOUT Pattern. The 107 SCOUT patterns show up from time to time on e-bay. In used condition they typically sell for sixty to ninety dollars. Mint examples easily fetch over a hundred and twenty. Why not get SIX of them at once? Keep what you want and sell the rest. OR…Have yourself a LEGENDARY set of steak knives to use at cookouts and cut into that specially prepared Ribeye. These don’t come up for sale very often, if you’ve been looking for a set, here’s your chance! Good luck bidding and as always…thanks for looking! Kix
