recently acquired at an auction among a box of things, a knife about 3 1/2 inches long closed. it is a parker with the eagle brand cutlery emblem on the blade. and says handmade by tak fukuta. the entire backspring and blade hinges out the blade spins 180 degrees and the backspring is the put back into its original position.
any help identifying this knife would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what it is, but I think it's very interesting. I wish I had one if only for the oddness of it. Of course by todays standards it's a pretty over-complicated way to open a knife. A close-up pic of the blade marking might help identify it.

it is the most unique knife i have ever seen. it is a very unorthodox design but maybe that will make it more valuable lol.

Although it's an interesting knife, the truth is that any knife with the marking "surgical steel- made in Japan" isn't likely going to be worth much. Today, Japan produces a lot of high-quality knives, but a few decades ago, "made in Japan" pretty much meant "junk" as far as knives go. And it looks like an old knife. Also, when the blade steel is described simply as "surgical steel", that's not a sign of high value. "surgical steel" is a very generic term in the knife world used on very low-end knives.

Still, it's a cool knife. :)

it seems to be a very well built knife. very tight when open or shut. and tak fukuta the maker. looks like a pretty sought after knife maker on ebay

one could only assume that the rarity of the knife would make it's value regardless of the type of steel that was used. although one want better steel its not like i'm going to be cutting anything with it.

Does that say "Parker Cut Co." on the blade? It looks like it. If I recall correctly, Parker Cut had an emblem of a bird with outstretched wings incorporated in their blade stamp (I believe that's what that design is under the words in the very first pic, in fact, I'd bet my lunch on it). Any chance of a close-up pic of the blade-stamp in the very first picture?
