Guess this knife in my collection, I think it is a CLASSIC:
In 1985 I bought a knife in Boston. It is a folder (not necessarily a conventional folder). When it is "locked" up it is sturdier than a Sebenza. The blade spine is maybe .18" thick. I paid $35 for it brand new. What is it?

Gerber Parabellum? Bolt-action lock w/ sheath for carry as folder or "fixed" blade.

Good guesses. However, it's a Pacific Cutlery Balisong with a thick wee-hawk blade. It was just before Benchmade bought them; the knife in fact has the Balisong butterfly logo which is now Benchamde's logo.
It was the lowest end knife in the series because it has die cast handles with black plastic inserts. It's a hell of a knife, though.

If you feel the need to trade this old design knife for a new, better one, just let me know...i'll be kind and take it off your hands

Sorry, I don't have any pictures. The handles are in excellent shape, the blade is pretty good too; except it is about 1/16" shorter than when new. I intentionally dropped it on a white painted piece of wood one day, which truned out to be a slab of marble! I had the bent tip professionally sharpened down.
Do you mean a trade for a BM 42? I would do that.
