I recieved a cold Steel knife today from a guy and I don't know what it is. It is a lockback tanto folder with about a 3 3/4 size blade made out of San Mai steel. the handles are made of kraton instead of plastic. It came with a ballistic nylon sheath. It is in perfect condition. He gave it to me for free because he said he never usd it before and it was taking up space. is this knife worth anything. I like the look of the San Mai. Does anyone have any info o this knife?

It is totally worthless. Please send it to me, and I'll dispose of it for you. Am developing a worthless knife disposal service. In cases like yours, a knife with a sheath, I'll even pay the shipping.

Please e-mail me for my address.

I don't know what it's worth. Probably a little bit at least because of the SanMaiIII steel. I know of a place that had a couple for sale and they had a pretty hefty price on it, at least I thought so for a Cold Steel folder.

If anybody wants one, I think the old hardware store in downtown Athens, AL has 2, but I'm pretty sure they are clip or drop point, not tanto. I'd be more than happy to find out a price, see if I could argue it down, pick one up, and send it to you for the purchase price + shipping.

Worthless. Can't be. Glockman99 where are you? I need your expert knowledge.

These are long discontinued Cold Steel folders from the late '80's some time I believe. They were pretty nice, especially the San Mai version. I have a friend (who lurks here now) that owned one of them and really liked it. Unfortunately his was stolen by a "friend" of ours.

I really couldn't tell you the value. If it's minty it should be worth at least what it was new, maybe a little more. I don't have any of my catalogs from that far back so I can't help you with that. It's basically worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. If I recall the Kraton did have a tendancy to peel off these under hard use, but that seems to be a universal tendancy of kraton handled folders. It's a nice knife though.

Thanx for the replies. I wish someone out there had some idea as to what this knife was worth though. Also, how strong is San Mai? Is it rust resistant? Need more info. Please..
