what is knife abuse?

I like the warrenty definition. Honestly, I carry a knife as a tool and when its on my hip I will use it as I see fit. If that means doing something dumb and I have to accept responsibility for a broken blade due to my action, then I recognize that and go ahead and do the dumb thing. That is why I carry the knife. I tend to like knives better then multi-tools and what that means is I put my more generalized tool at risk when using it for things like a quick screwdriver or prying a paint lid. Thats just me though. I don't complain too much when I damage something as a result of my actions.

However, breaking the knife tip when using it as a screwdriver and claiming a warrenty issue is a good definition of abuse.

I find abusive testing to be interesting but truly pointless. Well-made knives don;t need to be "tested" with vises, prybars, sledgehammers, concrete, and other such silly stuff.

It seems Noss has demonstrated the opposite. If you pay (sometimes big money) for a knife that is supposed to withstand such abuse, it's good to know if it will perform.

And like I said in another thread, who besides Bear Grylls would be caught in the field hammering a knife with a rock?

Someone who anticipates their equipment will perform the way it's hyped.

A knife is the original multi tool. I tend to agree with John T Wylie Jr. Not using it is the biggest abuse.
