What is one fold and fixed blade everyone should have, knife person or not?

I even keep one on the bike, if someone steals it, I'll go in the bedroom and grab another.

I keep thinking about getting an SAK but I always pass them up for a leatherman instead in addition to a primary EDC knife. I have a lot of friends that carry knives and every one of them has different needs and tastes. On guy carries a tiny SAK, one carries a folding utility knife with replaceable blades, another doesn't like even medium knives and carries a kershaw chive. Some guys carry whatever cheap-o they happen to come across and can't fathom spending $50 for a knife.

Same goes for their taste in fixed blades. Some don't bother, some like moras, some like Ka-Bars, I like everything from mora on up to the Becker BK9 and Ka-Bar grass machete and everything in between.

When I hear the question "knives EVERYONE should own" I think of knives I don't even own. And other than kitchen knives my mom doesn't have any need at all for a fixed blade knife so there's no point for her to buy a mora let alone a Ka-Bar.

It could be said that every "knife person" should try this or that but people who aren't interested in knives or activities where knives are useful don't NEED a certain knife. I think EVERYONE cuts stuff enough to justify carrying some kind of knife all the time, but what that knife is is going to depend on the individual.

For knife people:
(1) Folder - CRK Sebenza
(2) Fixed Blade - BK 2

For non-knife people:
(1) Folder - Benchmade 940
(2) Fixed Blade - Mora
