What is saatisal wood...

Castile soap (if pure, if real)
is olive oil soap.

-Any- oil, plus Sodium Hydroxide (CAUTION)
in the proper proportion, makes soap.
Sodium Hydroxide (lye) is very common in drain cleaners (here).
Some brands are the pure chemical
& others have other ingredients.
Potassium Hydroxide may also be used.

Here's a couple of soapmaking links if you want to read up.
Make nice gifts too.
Best to -start- with 'cold-process' soaps -- no cooking.

Thanks, folks. I knew you'd come through. We need to agree on the spelling, but otherwise we are in agreement. This is some kinda good wood!

I have several handgun grips made in the early 80's by Rogers (that will date me to some of you, back when Rogers and Davis were about it for IPSC competition leather and accessories), that are made from African Zebrawood. Just beautiful, very dense, with a gorgeous natural grain as the name implies. I've been thinking of an 18" Ak or WWII, with the blued blade as done by some folks here, with a tan and black zebrawood handle to set it off.

Now _that_ would be something to see...!

Svashtar

In your original thread you spelled it as Satisaal.:p ;)

UB spells it saatisal. I'm not gonna argue with him, are you?:p ;) :D ;)

Please notice the smilies, I'm only half serious, but I'm still not gonna argue with Bill.:p :D ;)

Spelling of words orginating in another language and alphabet is always chancy (khukuri, khukri, kukri, kuhkri, kookeree). We're just trying to capture sounds. (In which respect, the "accepted" spelling -- "kukri" -- misses the mark.)
