What is Sandvik 13C26 stainless-steel?

Hm. It says it's like AUS 8. Isn't razor steel the type used in Victorinox's Knives? I tend to think of that stuff as soft, wear out fast steel.

It is roughly equivalent to 13C26....;):D

I really suck at putting steels into perspective, but I can tell you that it takes a wicked edge, holds it for a little shorter time than S30V or 154CM and is pretty easy to sharpen. I have owned lots of Kershaws in 13C26 and have never been disappointed with its edge holding. I would say that I sharpen an S30V blade that I have EDCed every 3-4 weeks and I would sharpen a 13C26 blade every 2-3 weeks. Those figures are just relative of course, but might help you a little. :)

Hopefully, someone can come along and do a little better than me :D:thumbup:

Ahh thanks. So as far as edge retention, what's it equal to? I was mainly looking for that.

I knocked the back bevel of my 13C26 Leek back to about 10 degrees per side. At that angle its edge retension SUCKS. But it slices like a laser! The bevel really is remarkable, although the edge will roll even if I just look at it roughly. But before I did that, I would say it performed similarly to AUS8 when both are set at comparable angles. It doesn't polish as well as AUS8 does, in my opinion.

As far as general abrasive wear resistance, it falls in between
440A and 440C although it will hold it's initial scary sharp edge
a little bit longer then each of the above mentioned steels.

Hope that makes sense.

Out of the knives that use 13C26 that I've owned, I've found it to be a quite good steel. Sharpens easy and hold an edge for a decent amount of time. I don't have enough experience to juxtapose it against other steels with much accuracy, but it should be perfectly good for standard EDC use.

I have 2 Prinsloo custom Skinners, and this is the steel he uses. I don't know if its his heat treat, but they are super sharp and hold their edge well. Also doesn't take much to get it back to super sharp either. my personal experience with this steel is limited to this one source though.

Get the red Blur. Here is a small group of Blurs. Some "family" members didn't make it into this photo.
I've carried a standard BLK for a while now, 1-1/2 yrs in rotation, only sharpened a couple of times.
Also, the newer Blurs have a different more rubbery insert material compared to the older sandpaper style.
Nice and grippy, but doesn't catch on the pocket.

You can see the inserts in the Grey Blue compared to the Green. It was much coarser then.
I need to make a new photo with all of them in it. :o
