what is tactical blade?

yeah i would say the word tactical is way over used to market knives but a real tactical knife whether its folding or fixed keeps low profile with non reflective finishes such as dark gray, black or camo. its closed position is very concealable or if it has a sheath it is easy to draw and the sheath keeps a low profile as well.

I think we need to distinguish the concept of tactical (lowercase "t") from the marketing term Tactical. The former basically means reliable and useful for a large variety of unanticiapted circumstances, and the latter, well, lets let the folks at Dark Ops suggest a meaning.

I probably have a simple interpretation of tactical compared to most others. To me, my delica and recon tanto are tactical. I think the MOST important feature in a "tactical" knife is durability. I like knowing I could accidently leave my delica somewhere, soak in mud, sand, water, whatever, and just a little water would get it back to new. How many could say this about their Axis Locks? I think the knives we commonly refer to as tactical would be what we often call beaters. IMO, a cold steel voyager is very tactical. My recon tanto always comes to the field with me. I dont have to worry about messing it up, or losing it. I toss it in my ruck sack and take it out when needed. I also think 1 hand opening and closing is vital to a "tactical" knife. Yes, I know all the buck 110 fans will be mad at me for saying this, but a large folder that you cant both open AND close with one hand is just worthless. At least, it is for my everyday uses. And from what I've encountered in the field, something simple like a delica or a voyager is the best candidate.
