I will be posting these blocks in the Stabilized Wood Blocks section of our web store 4/18 at 2 in the afternoon PST.
Since there are not enough of these to go around I can't promise one or more of these to anyone ahead of time.
Who knows, they are kind of weird looking. Maybe nobody will like them.

Looks like quilted old growth redwood.

Ben is the one who guessed correctly.
I will be taking individual photos and they will go in the web store at 2pm pst.

Bill, you got the type of figure correct. The colors are funky in the video because of bad lighting.

oops! too late

I actually thought it looked like quilted maple too but now that you mention it you can clearly see the bigger grain in the video... Very pretty wood

The blocks in the video are some Old Growth Redwood that was found in a barn on an old abandoned homestead near here.
Part of the barn had burned down and these slabs were in the fire.
We pressure washed the slabs to remove the charred surfaces and this is what was underneath.

What do I win? ;) The big growth rings were the giveaway to me.
Holy crap, those are some big, beautiful burls!

You win free admission to It's a Burl!
Just teasing you, but you should come down this summer.
It is only a 3 hour drive for you.

I'm not a maker and don't know a lot about materials but I do know these are something special. I saw these at the OKCA show. Lots of beautiful wood at the table but this is the only thing I picked up. I don't think I've seen anything like these before and was drawn right to them. Beautiful brown hue with nice figuring that looks like isn't captured very well in the pictures.
