What is the best all around edc knife on a budget

I had a Tenacious for a bit, the ergonomics didn't do much for me and it's a pretty wide knife, so it'll take up a good amount of real estate in the pocket.

You had some really good picks there, you might want to check out the Steel Will Cut Jack 3.5in, D2 steel and a choil for $40ish.
It was probably mentioned but the Skyline has a good reputation too.
The Rat is a great choice though.
I have been interested in the cutjack. I used to buy strictly make in us but the quality and price of imports now are equal to or in some Instances better than USA produced. Sad it has come to that but just the way it is I guess

Yeah I can understand that, most of if not all the knives I own are made in the US, but it is really hard to beat the price for the materials and construction you get out of imported knives.

After the last couple of price increases, I don’t consider the Delica a budget folder anymore.
I agree. It is a great knife, but if you are pinching pennies, you don't go out and buy a Spydie Delica. I would say that the best all around edc knife on a limited budget is a Vic SAK such as the Tinker or Spartan. I use SAKs a lot and budget or not, they are great regular carry knives.

The Steel Will Cutjack is a great regular carry knife (the mini for me). I have the more expensive mini in M390 and love it.

I am surprised. I've seen alot of negative about the cryo 2. I've been sitting on my porch for an hour whittling and it has just now lost the shaving edge. Still sharp enough to use. I like the cryo so had to get the cryo 2. It seems pretty good to me
Hope it holds up over time for you.
My cousin and uncle both received a cryo2 which didn't hold up at all, i tried to tighten them up but they could only be loose and rattly or too tight to spring open.
I've heard other tales of bad cryo2's but not the cryo, I suppose these quality issues are why.

Well the Victorinox Classic SD can still be had for $10.95+ shipping and that covers what most people would do. Really there are a lot of SAK for $50 and under that covers everything. I'm assuming $50 is the common cut off for budget knife among knife nuts.
When the San Ren Mu 605 could be had for $5, nothing could really beat that for usability vs price.

Still, for opening packages you can buy a folding utility knife - lockback, quick blade change, and pocket clip - for <$5. You can get 50 utility blades for <$6 on Amazon. There, you covered an average person's lifetime usage.

Well, if you want something with a pocket clip the Ontario Rat 2 is an excellent choice for around 30$. It is a proven design that will last you years to come, and AUS8 is a decent blade steel that should hold an edge fairly well. If you can do without the pocket clip, the Casexx Sodbuster or Sodbuster junior would be great choices. They’ll also run you about 30$.

I think the Real Steel cutjack is an outstanding knife for not alot of $$$....

Then there is always the 801 from Ruike.

Personally I love the Kershaw Emerson collabs and they can be quite inexpensive.

Victorinox Farmer. Can't beat that saw - slipjoint.
Spyderco Delica. This could be "the knife".
Light weight, decent steel, one hand opening, clip and good handle.
I use one every day and it is "nearly indestructible", it takes whatever I throw at it.
This makes it a "budget knife" in the long run.

My favorite is still the Kershaw Scrambler.
Ergonomically pleasing, visually pleasing with a bit of a classy look to boot, tough and sturdy enough for most any task, and can be found for well under $30. Sure it's made in China, but Kershaw has a pretty decent 8cr heat treat in place. Mine hasn't let me down yet.

As a budget knife, I like the Rat 1. Aus 8 for <$30 or D2 for around $40.

Zancudo.. Have a RAT2 and just doesn't fit my hand as well as the Zancudo..:D John
