What is the best balance point for bushcraft knife?

Hi
Should the balance be at the first finger or should a bush craft knife be butt-heavy?

I found most of my bark-river knives butt heavy. Are they off balance? or is it a good thing?

To me for a smaller "bushcraft" knife and doing a lot of whittling, cutting, and carving, cutting cordage...pretty much everything besides chopping...I like a knife to be a little handle heavy. That is to say I like the balance point to be right on the first finger or just a hair behind it. I like for the blade not to be "pulling" on my hand the whole time I'm working with it, I like to be able to move my fingers when working with whatever without fear of the knife just flipping out of my hand.

Exactly if not why post anything....in fact just take down the forum every one start using their knives and no more silly question.....the forum is not for that....who said is. Was to share thoughts......pstt

This is a great question

For my 4" full tang blades, I like between the first and second finger with my thumb between the two.
This gives me a very dynamic balance, dependent on how I move my thumb back and forward
So this it a twirl effect and very fast in the hand from a strong back grip to light delicate forward cutting

For lighter scandi rattail knives, I find them so light that the overall balance is neutral
So an actual balance point is not important
