What is the best fixed blade under $30?

Thanks for the ideas. A couple of knives I have looked into that sound good to me are Gerber Gator and there are several Bucks; 119 ,Bucklite Max, and the walmart version of the Paklite which has a longer blade than the other Paklites. Although I am concerned with the Gerber steel, I have used it alot before but not under abuse. How do you think these blades will do for my purposes? And again, give me more suggestions.

Skip lunch - maybe two - get ~$41, inc s/t. Get thee to a WallyWorld - and get a Buck 119 - super bargain - very 'Special' fb knife. The 110 Folding Hunter is an icon, too - and nearer $30 with s/t. Great USA-made classics.

I ordered this combo from walmart. I was really impressed with the set. The larger of the two has a full tang and came pretty sharp out of the box. The other is a replaceable blade skinning knife.

I handled a Condor Kumunga recently, it is a stout blade for less than $30.

A Mora #1 paired up with a decent sharp machete such as a Tramontina or a more expensive condor should serve you just fine for 90% of the task you will face in the woods.

That's the honest truth. I have nice Busses, Rangers, Beckers and all, but a good Mora and Tramontina with a good edge on it can do it all.

Yea, I'd have to say Moras(got mine for $8 + shipping) or a Condor of some sort (rodan most likely).

The Kershaw Antelope and Bear Hunter knives are really nice. very good ergonomics. antelope hunter can be scored for around 15 dollars sometimes, not sure about the bear hunter though. Antelope Hunter has a blade length of 3 5/8 inches, barely making the cut. The Bear Hunter has a blade length of 4 1/2 inches. quite a bit bigger. Personally owning the Antelope Hunter, I can definitely recommend it. 2 main concerns though. 1- its made in china. some people don't like china knives, but kershaw does a very excellent job at quality control. 2- the sheath is very good in my eyes, but its just a simple hunting sheath and nothing more. no kydex :/ it does the job nicely though
