*What is the best folding knife bargain of 2001?

Of what I've seen: Spyderco G-10 Standard 43$ and spyderco g-10 rookie 40$ - but I have both and don't buy spare ones ...

This best bargain thing is obviously related to your knife budget. For someone 1000$ Knife by Tim Herman could be excellent bargain but for me that would be personal bankrupt.

Start looking seriously at CRKT. They are making leaps and bounds over the older companies. Start looking to these guys as the new knife production company giant. I think they will be leaving the old boys in the dust!

I think if Microtech's Bali comes out by the end of the year, for under $200, with all of Mike Turber's hopes and dreams included, it will be the most innovative and best valued knife of the year.

CRKT Apache series, any of the 3 can be had for $20.ATS 34, aluminum handles, and a good tight lockup. They are being discontinued so get one while you can.

Either some of the new CRKT designs or one of the two Darryl Ralph creations (I favor the EDC slightly).

Right now it’s possible to get a great deal on the discontinued Spyderco Wayne Goddard Clip-It Lightweight with a plain edge. Check out http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum52/HTML/001625.html
The Goddard has ATS-55 steel. Handles are black fiberglass reinforced nylon resin with reversible metal pocket clip. I ordered mine Monday night! I can't wait to get it.

I think the question is too broad. There are plenty of knives that I consider a bargain at their current price, that I'm sure many others would flich at, extremely. It's far too relative to choose one knife. Now, if you set price ranges, it might be possible to decide what knife within a given price range is the best bargain.

I have a Spyderco Goddard on order also, could not pass up that price, but I am very impressed with the EDC I recieved a couple of days ago. It is just a great knife for the money.

Anything by CRK&T. Especially the KFF.

(I have a CRK&T coming as we speak, so I can't give an informed opinion on it yet)

I got a great deal on a Buck Odyseey packaged with a guide-rod-and-clamp sharpening kit, all for around 30 USD. At Sam's Club, of all places. I don't think it was the deal of the year, but it wasn't bad.

And tomorrow when you wake up it will be worse.

Rick,

Where are there Apaches for $20, I thought SMKW sold out of those. Or were you just saying that when they were still available they were the best deal?

Same as it is every year.

The lightweight Spydercos.

For me the fully serrated Delica.
