*What is the best folding knife bargain of 2001?

For a fixed blade I would say the 154CM Talon is a good choice right now

After getting my two Camillus CM154 EDC's today, I would have to say this knife! Great design, good steel, good fit and finish.

For those who like radical tanto points, the best deal may be the new SOG Mini Autoclip which features a BG 42 blade for $39.95 from the Knifecenter.

CRKT's Ryan7

Life is too short to stay on idle, don't be afraid to use that throttle.

I probably shouldn't vote until I've gotten a Bladelock from CRKT. If the lock is all they say, then even without the best steel, one could say the best/strongest lock can be had for $55, or something like that.

I only handled it briefly the other day, but was extremely impressed with the Timberline Vallotten Discovery Lock. It felt very good in the hand, the fit and finish was fine. The assisted opening felt way better to me than my Kershaw Whirlwind, and Chuck Karwan had great things to say about the design and the new lock it incorporates. He said either the locking bar it uses or the stop pin have to completely shear before the blade can close, and the lock is set automatically by the spring that opens the blade.

Loyal as I am to CRKT, I surely would give it the nod over the Tighe Tac, which I have, and the Ryan, which I don't, and probably won't. First knife CRKT has made that does absolutely nothing for me.

Woops!

I missed the Apaches at SMKW, dammit, but I did get several Mirages @ $9.99.

They have 2 or 3 models left at that price.

For me it was my Kershaw mini-Task, got it for $34.99/SMKW! Other then that I would have to say CRK&T has the bargains. RKBA!

Best bang for the buck in folders..I would have to say Cold Steel Voyager series..They make em big, small, strong and razor sharp. Plus, you can get them for well under $100
Personally I have one of these that has cut things that knives shouldn't be asked to cut, concrete board, fence wire, flooring, even brick. Yes, it is pretty thrashed but it still sharpens up fairly well.

I have to lean toward the most bang for your buck on the higher end knives.

Right now 1SKS has the REKAT Pioneer II for $59.99 on closeout regularly $139.95. I think he only has them left in Tanto. Bad for me, may be good for you.

As far as a knife that I think could be a lot more expensive I'd have to vote for the Microtech Lightfoot LCC, I know it came out last year but it's still a great value and you can find people selling them here for around $120 if you look hard.

Over the weekend I bought a serrated Outdoor Edge Magna with Zytel scales for under $45 bucks. This is definately alot of knife for the money and definately one of the best buys I've encountered other that CRKT's knives.

The EDC in 154cm from Camillus:

1. rock solid frame lock up
2. very good blade steel
3. very well designed and manufactured
4. light weight, slim and small enough for office carry.
5. all for the low, low, low, low price of $65.00 bucks!

Almost any CRKT - I love my little Patton, great knife just to abuse an only 9.99 at SMKW but a mid sized folder is the X Ray vision by SOG. Cool blade, razor sharp, nice feel, GREAT LOCK super strong, and found it new on Ebay for 50 bucks!!

Two weeks ago I received a Spyderco Viele that I ordered and I will have to say that it was the sharpest knife I have ever seen out of the box. It takes a very fine edge and holds exceptionally well. For the quality versus the cost I would have to vote for this one.
