What is the best new knife for the money?

Look into Kershaw, great knives at all different price ranges.

That's a pretty general question. A basic SAK, Mora and Tramontina machete can handle 99% of what I do with knives and cost under $50 combined. If you really need a modern folder you can throw in a Kershaw One Ton or a Byrd Cara Cara for only about $20 more.

That depends.
Are you talking about the best knife I own for the money or the best knife in general for the money?

Best cheaper knife I own for the money would be the Spyderco Squeak.

Opinel for a folder, very strong lock and blade that takes and holds an excellent edge. Mora for a fixed blade, rugged and reliable, great steel. Both around $15 or so

Cheers,
Connor

Folding-para2 s35vn, any ZT blem or any Hogue
fixed- any scrapyard or Hogue, Fherman or swamp rat,Busse.
All these will last for generations of hard use

Spyderco Techno is an outstanding knife for what I paid.
Spyderco Chokwe is another.
Spyderco Gayle Bradley Air

Really any Spyderco made in Taichung Taiwan.
The fit and finish on top of materials for the prices asked is just amazing.
