What is the best new knife for the money?

A Spyderco Tenacious is a good deal at the low end. Their South Fork is a good deal at the higher end.

Buck 110, 112, or their Vantage, IMHO.

I think ohen hit the nail on the head, I've always thought that Buck gives the best bang for the Buck! (No Pun intended.)

I also, think that the BK2 will fit in there , just fine!:)

I have quite a few favorites. For the money, maybe the ZT 0350, the Spyderco PM2, the ESEE 3mil. These are hundred-dollar knives.

enlan knives are getting quite popular now days. around $10 and u get a tenicious quality knife. if you are into usa made knives, i think para 2 and the manix 2 are great bang for the buck

As mentioned, you couldn't really go wrong with a 110 or Mora. To be honest most of Kershaw's 20-40 dollar lineup offers outstanding value for money.

Plenty of $30-$40 knives that are one heck of a bargain and fully serviceable. You can go to $10 and still get a knife that will serve you all day long. If you want to talk about some of the bigger names tossed around then there is Kershaw in the mid 40's 50's, mini-grip for $56 and the legendary Paras for right around $100. It's not an definitively answerable question but fun none the less...
