What is the best RC for A2??

In your opinion what is the optimum hardness for A2?

The reason I ask is a friend of mine just got a Greco Companion. I was told that Greco's RC is 57 to 59. Is this good?

I had a chance to look at the knife and I must say that I am very impressed. Fit and finish was awesome. This knife is one hell of a thick hunk of steel.

Any opinions on the hardening of A2 is appreciated. Thanks.

I have my A2 heardened to Rc60-61 if it is a small blade and 57-58 if it is larger than 11" (11" is based on the style of knife more than any meaningful calculation). The lower hardness makes A2 more impact resistant than it normally is, and it is normally pretty good. In a tactical knife, edge holding isn't really that important, while impact toughness is critically important. My thoughts anyway.

Agreed, Jerry gave you the straight scoop, based on my experience testing A-2 blades.
