What is the best sharpening system?

There is no "best" only what people prefer.
Some prefer the Edge Pro and others like stones and guides, while others use both.
The Syderco Sharpmaker is fantastic also and most here use it on a regular basis. I just received one and love it! I also have a set of Razor Edge Systems stones and guides coming for reprofiling a really dull blade as the Sharpmaker is slow at that.
Just research them and buy what you think would work best for you and try it.
If you don't care for it, sell it on Ebay and buy another one. ;)

I know this is not the answer that you are looking for, but I agree with Mike. You'll have to buy every possible variation and see what works best for you.

EdgePro and Sharpmaker are two obvious choices, but very different price points. If you go with the Sharpmaker, you'll likely have to supplement it with a coarse benchstone (like a DMT DiaSharp or one of the synthetics such as Silicon Carbide or Aluminum Oxide) for profiling work. AND, if you go that route, you'll probably want the Razor Edge clamps to help you keep the angles constant. Once you get the Razor Edge clamps, you might as well go ahead and get a Soft, Hard, and Black Arkansas stone to round out your toolbox. Finally, you'll need a good strop and either white polishing compound or the green CrO from Hand American.

And, I didn't even mention Japanese waterstones...

I just bought the Razor Edge Deluxe Professional Kit. I was comparing a few of them today online and reading reviews and the Razor Edge seemed to best suit my needs. Besides, I like the guides that you attach to the blades to get the right angle. The video should help me too. I took Mike and Ted's advice and I'm gonna try a few until I find the right one. I already have a SpyderCo Sharp-maker for quick touch ups, but I wanted something a little more intense.
