What is the best single blade locking folder?

I know I'm going to get hit for this, but I would have to say the Mission MPF, I've never seen better lockup ever.

Thought I'd just throw a spanner in the works and advocate the SAK Adventurer. It's the knife that's spent the most time riding with me. The blade is pretty strong and the lock is real solid. I've used it for everything I can think of, from cutting fruits (think pineapple), veggies and meats to cutting wood in the work shop for a project. I've even used it to pry open crabs claws when I catch crabs in the local river and the crabs are a little reticient about letting go of the scoop net and dropping in to the bucket.

This SAK has the added advantage of some additional tools, without the price of being too thick. What it needs for improvement is a way to open it one-handed. Right now I just use my teeth to open it, or reach for my Delica instead. Carrying it conveniently also needs some thought. Either that new Kangaroo Pouch (think it was Allen Elishewitz (sp?) who makes them) or put on some sort of clip.

Well get ready for the one thousand and one answers.Seriously though,I have a plain large Sebenza which I think is about the best strongest folder ever made-I have a custom Elishewitz which is an awsome piece, but for me is more of a show piece.I would have to say if your looking for some of the best priced production pieces and great lock,I would say ya can't go wrong with the axis lock series.I'm eager to get my hands on the new BM-940 osborne axis lock-looks like a must have.Good luck in your quest.Chow,Ralph

If one threw in a length of time factor of usage to this. I would say from personal experience the Buck 500, I've carried two over a 25 year period, the older of them just refurbised by Buck (no charge), or the Buck 110. and lately Sebenza. Although the price difference between the Bucks and Sebenza is quite high will they be here in 25 years? Hope so.
Although now that I think about it. What I paid for the Buck back then, with inflation, the cost difference between the Buck and Sebenza isn't so great.

no question the strongest and most rugged single bladed folder on the market is the awesome CRK large Sebenza!!!!!!

My second choice would be a folder with a similar lock configuration, i.e., Darrel Ralph, Allen Elishewitz, or maybe BM's monolock.

I'll have to toss-in my vote for the Wegner/Spyderco "Clip-It" Folder! I have had mine for about 2 years now, and the darn thing is TOUGH, and cost under $100.

For the money, I would have to go for the Spyderco StarMate. The shape is perfect and the lock-up on mine is tight as a drum after a year of use, including much "flicking". Most of all, I love the CPM440V steel, it is far and away the best steel that I have ever found in a knife blade, despite what others have said. It keeps an edge like nothing that I have ever seen.
