what is the best smalll flashlight?

Don't get the Inova X1. The aluminum feels cheap, the tail button does not work well, and my Photon Light is much brighter. I wish that I would have bought the Infinity Task Light instead. :grumpy:

My experience is completely the opposite. I love the X1. I think its aluminum body feels fine. The tail button IS sensitive. The X1 and the Photon are completely different LED lights. They are meant to be carried differently and probably used for different tasks. I love to use the X1 to look for things that have rolled under the desk and couch. :)

Arc has longer runtime, easier to find batteries, better waranty (IIRC)...

I've read several posts on CPF about people who not only have defective Arc lights, but haven't sent them back because the Arc company was incapable of replacing them.

I just got my Peak AAA 3 LED on Monday and I absolutely love it. I also have a photon II on my keychain but I keep the Peak in my Mission Wallet for when I really need light.

True. Sometime ago a problem was found with one of the components (on the AAA) that make up the circuitry. Due to the high demand of the product and long lead time for the new component, supply ran out and has not yet been replaced. Though I believe that all outstanding warranty claims are being handled as supply permits.

VIP by Mr. Bulk - can you send me a link or pic of this light?

Thanks,

VIP Review

Mind you this was a customer built run of hand built lights that aren't available new anymore....

But a good idea of what is possible!

Depends on your point of view, I've handled a VIP it was nice, but it didn't strike me as that much superior to surefires. It gets uncomforatbly hot if you run it for very long, and I could only get 2 - 3 minutes on "high" with surefire batteries before it would start strobing (indicating low battery). Duracells work better I understand, or you could run it on medium.

It is quite compact and well made, I don't know if it's water proof.

To me Inova lights are pretty darn nice, not to expensive and bright enough for me. YMMV.

My Arc AAs and AAAs have all been first rate. So far as I'm concerned, the AAA is *the* keychain light. The AA is great, too, but it's just a tad too big for me to carry comfortably on my keychain (considering that I have a bunch of other stuff on there, too).

I have several Photon microlights, but don't carry 'em any more. The AAA kicks their collective butt, in terms of light output, runtime and ease in changing batteries.

Does anyone know how long a bulb should last on a surefire G2 ?

I like the ARC AAA and photon freedom light with the turquoise LEDs. I use them to fly at night...the turquoise LED is one the brightest, does not hurt your night vision, and allows "red" objects on navigation charts to be visible.

The clip that comes with the photon freedom is perfect to attach to a pilot's headset, and the CR2016 batts are easy to find.

mete,
The ballpark lifespan for SureFire lamps is roughly 25 hours.
However, none of the SureFires I've not yet run for 25 hours have ever lost a lamp, and all of the SureFires I've run for over 25 hours are still going strong.
For example, I've put in excess of forty sets of batteries through the A2 I have.
