What is the better steel S30V or D2?

High speed tool steel refers to M2 I believe, but A2 and D2 are similar types of tool steel. I used to have a extrema ratio with n690 cobalt and it was ok. My favourite knife is a D2 dustar (israeli) and it has a lower hardness rating at about 57. I can get this like a razor in bugger all time. I have busses on the way though so they may be better. At the moment though, if I had to take one knife out bush it would be the Dustar.

I had never heard of these Dustars before, so I took a look. They seem pretty badass, although I don't like nylon handles. I thought this was interesting.

The blade was subject to extreme
durability tests, normally not expected
during even a lifetime of service. These included hard blows against a D2 block, which was consequently deeply marked, but left no scratch on the blade.

Is that a product of the heat treating or what?
