What Is The BIG Deal....???

Just received my first BIG finish blade from a forum member and I gotta say I love the grinder finish. NMFSH is sweet

I recommend Eric at Mashed Cat, he is a stand up guy and makes a heck of a kydex sheath IMO... you cannot go wrong. Though he may not have that exact model, I know he makes them for the NMFSH LE.. that should probably fit well enough I reckon.

I also prefer Competition Finish due to it's rugged good looks, but I dislike doing them myself do to the mess/chemicals involved... the main point for me is that it is a reasonable price point and bare metal. I don't care that much what it looks like... it's what's inside that really counts.
 
Sure seems like this option might be long gone... anyways the new bead blasted big finish is mighty nice too. Would be great to see that resurface at the very least, really just any uncoated Sr-101 would really tickle me pink at this point... :)
 
I haven't had first hand experience so I wouldn't bet my farm on it but wouldn't sr-101 BIG finish (or any bare metal finish) develop a nice patina? Does anybody have a stripped sr-101 for show and tell?

Also I LOVE my comp finish knife! I prefer them to pure satin. Please bring them back Jerry!

Also has there ever been a comp finish katana?

Imbels and Argentines are heaviest. STG's not as bad but inch models, Aussie or Brits, are lot lighter than metric.

FAL's are addictive like Busse. Especially if you get hooked on a smooth as silk STG58. You can't have just one and the more you get, the more you want.
 
Competition and BIG have been my favorite finishes so far. Had comp finish on a TGLB that I sold and BIG on an ASHBM and NMFSH I still own. My coating preferences:

INFI Users: Comp, BIG, or stripped
Safe Queens: Satin
SR 101: coated
